HdR Opening Tasting: Kudos to John for pulling this out to pour. This was in a great place. Black raspberries, some black pepper. Complex and layered. Just slight silky tannins. Still fresh fruit and some dried as well. A real treat.

For any doubters that these wines can age well with high alcohol, you may become a believer. The wine was rose color and initially had a nose of some barnyard which blew off after an hour in the decanter. On the palate, wine had mature syrah notes similar to CdP. Great mouthfeel of mature cherries, blood sausage with a dash of pepper. Finish was a solid minute long in this wine that is still in its youth.

(Pittsburgh Offline 10-9-04) Very good. Light on the nose, but good body and very velvet texture. Good fruit, some earth. Light finish, but lingering. Well-rounded and delicious. A stellar wine whose finesse showed well in the company of more recent, bigger wines.

Very nice black fruited Syrah which will probably continue to age well for a few years.

This wine single handidly brings me back to Cali Syah after so many dissapointing older ones. Still very youthful.
