Pale yellow. Tangy, grassy nose much like a Sauvignon Blanc. Citric crispness with a tart finish. My wife and I tried the 2007 Telmo Rodriguez Gabo do Xil Godello a few days ago and are impressed by the grape's range of possibility. The Gabo do Xil seemed much like a rich Pinot Grigio. This could pass for a smooth Sauvignon Blanc. Both are excellent but they are very different. We preferred the Gabo do Xil but could see food matches where this wine would be a better fit.

Since the label says this is the property's "flagship" wine I'll have to take them at their word, though for me it should be flying at half mast. I suspect the issue isn't the wine itself, which presents itself with honesty. I just don't like it very much, and I'm not sure if it's the producer or godello the grape that bothers me. Grassy, sassy and citrusy on the nose, but if served blind I would have guessed inexpensive sauvignon blanc without hesitating. The grassy notes carry through the flavors and dominate to the point where I personally find it on the verge of being unpleasant. In the racing world they say 'there are horses for courses' and as far as I'm concerned you can stratch me from the next bottle of this.
Sorry, I forgot one thing: "grapefruit." It's not quite rosebud but it will have to do.

Mineral, tart, crisp - not bad, for the price, but not great

mineral and red grapefruit notes - a bit like an over-the-top Sav Blanc

Very fragrant aromas of honeysuckle, with bitter almond flavors in the mouth. A solid medium-bodied palate.
