I bought this from the PLCB a couple of years ago for a solid $30. The first bottle was, well, rather unfortunate. This one? A totally different ball game. I will go out on a limb and say this was one of the better Flowers wines I have ever had (and I am no slouch in that department). Lemon curd, vanilla, depth, acidity, balance. This has it all. Outstanding. thedrunkencyclist.com

Wet stones, crushed granite, morning dew, and hints of white flowers on the nose. The wine offers layers of flavor, albeit a bit subdued. Citrus oil, green apple, peach pit, almonds, pain grille. Lower acidity than I would prefer, which makes the finish a bit sluggish. Wish it was a little more crisp. Some buttered popcorn on the finish as it lingers.

Popped and drunk. Good stuff. I like how the age chilled the nose and flavors out. Everything was a bit subdued on this wine which I liked. I thought it was drinking very well. Floral little sweatiness on the nose. Nice dry medium acid. Little butter popcorn flavors on the back.

Full disclosure: we had this shortly after the Lewis Chard, but this really held its own. Great tropical fruit and kick, this was a great choice for the cheese plate (if I do say so myself). The really stinky Epoisses was a challenge, but this wine came out swinging. Outstanding. thedrunkencyclist.com

This bottle was somewhat in between the bottles drank on 5/18/12 and 7/09/12 in that the acid levels were not as stellar as the bottle on 7/9 but still better than the first (5/18). Other than that consistant with prior notes although this one had additive butterscotch aromas which was very interesting.

Really well-balanced with solid structure and controlled use of oak. Surprisingly fresh and vibrant. Floral and citrus scent. Grapefruit, green apple, pear and mineral flavor with plenty of acidity. Reminds me of a very good white burgundy.

Similar attributes to the last bottle drank on 5/18/12 but thankfully this bottle has far greater acid expression (and additive lemons) than the last bottle and is really rocking the house tonight. I hope my last 2 bottles are more like this one than the first. THIS is what Flowers Chards are all about. Great expression of fruit, acid, oak in equal measure....the ideal "equalateral triangle".

Subdued nose of lychee, beeswax, and tropical fruits. Nice, lemony, tropical fruit entry with lots of citrus. The finish is acidic and ends with a little bit of butter...not too much. I wouldn't cellar it though. Drink now.

Nose: Some ripe apple, spice, and mineral with accents of yeast and oak in the background. Palate: Good richness with apples, some fig, oak traces and a clean finish. The downside for me is the lack of acidity making this effort rather flabby which is odd given some previous tasters I respect (ex.Scott Davis) talking about the good acid levels. Perhaps I have an off bottle? Either way this bottle, while very nice, is somewhat of a dissapointment given my past experiences with Flowers Chards. Hopefully my remaining 3 bottles will yield better results. If this had higher acid levels it would really be a star as the other elements are there. That said I will be drinking the remaining bottles every 4 months as I don't see this as very ageable based on this bottle.

Love this wine - this is our Go to Chard that really gives the Burgs a run for their money
Straw gold color, delicious citrus nose with maybe a hint of caramel. lovely subtle oak, melon and summer fruits, notes of toffee/butterscotch on the finish. lush mouth feel
Great stuff

The nose consists of freshly cooked caramel, fabric softener, and orange rind. Mouth feel is full and pleasant. Dominated by refreshing acidity, but there is a some viscosity and a tiny bit of alcoholic heat. The oak is not overt, but certainly is present and lends nice structure to this wine. Flavors of tart lemon meringue pie immediately greet the lucky taster, with some bitter vegetal and grapefruit rind flavors balancing it out on the back end. Tasted with food, some honey and pecan flavors also join the party. Finish is long, with acidity and nice toasted nut lingering for some time. A perfectly balanced Cali chard. Given its elegance, this wine can also stand up to some of the better white burgs I've tried.

Bright golden color, with aromas of citrus, lemon oil, and toffee. The palate shows rich flavors of Kaffir lime, pineapple, orange rind, and meringue, with mineral and vanilla notes in harmony. Concentrated, generous, and accented by a beam of acid, keeping the wine fresh and lively. Lingering finish.

Are you kidding me. This wine rocks as a Cali Chard-5 years after the fact! It makes one intellectual wine-rivals a grand cru from Burgundy: developed fruit of lemon, lime, melon, passion fruit, lime, butterscotch, mineral terroir, with bright integrated acid. The finish is long, bright, and lanolin like with an oily integration that is great: this could be a’ Batard’ with a few more years of vintage and practice.

I don't drink a lot of chard relative to cabs but it is the white of choice, a fun chard with balanced butterness and bright citrus fruit, hints of honeydew in the midpalate. Low 90s. -s

Golden & bright in color. Perfumed lemon oil & oak on the nose that is very balanced. Lush entry of herbal lemon & slight orange with good spice & acid on the finish. Nice.

Medium straw yellow. Somewhat restrained on the nose with aromas of melon and citrus. Flavors of pear and minerality follow. Clean and round with warm spice of alcohol at the finish. Nice crisp acidity.
