I have had the pleasure of opening a couple bottles of Arnaud Ente's 2008 Clos des Ambres over the years and they've all shown an appealing balance between well-integrated matchstick reduction and rich melon & lemon, tonight also chamomile. Good acidity. Plenty of minerality and dry extract, great finish. I love love love this wine.

Arnaud Ente's 2008 Clos des Ambres is racing from first pop with energy and minerality that belies its age. The pretty nose offers flint, yellow fruit, and crushed stone notes as a prelude to the dense fruited palate that concludes with a finish of stone. Very good and should drink well through the decade.

The 08 Arnaud Ente Meursault Clos des Ambres’ precise minerality and purity threw me off in blind, called it a Dauvissat 1er Cru 2012. Steely mineral, Chablis like, buttery texture from the lees ageing. Big boned but doesn’t feel it has the Grand Cru depth. Good acidity and salinity. At one point I thought this could be a Nuits saint Georges 1er cru Blanc or Chablis 1er cru 2012? Nonetheless a really superb bottle. (92/100)

Absolutely delicious meursault at the beginning of an ultimate drinking window. Pear, gun powder, grilled lemon, flowers and buttery popcorn, Great balance between oak, fruit, minerality and acidity. Powerful but not overpowering - it is even better with food.

Just another outstanding bottle. Flint, almonds, hazelnuts combine with lemon and stone fruits. The complexities and weight are impeccable. The back end is still full with extract.

Struck match aromas on opening which soon dissipate. White flowers, lanolin, lemon butter, almonds. The mouth feel is super - texture and weight are the terrific. So is the length. Amazing for this level. So fresh, vivid, and balanced.

Nice matchstick and mineral nose, with white fruit and flowers. Great transparency on taste with excellent balance and long finish. Very refined but reminds me of Puligny more than Meursault. Nevertheless a really nice, complex, elegant wine with a long finish.

Plenty of struck match to the aroma. Breathes up to show notes of rockmelon, guava, spiced pear and almond butter. It has great shape and a fruit sweet heart. There's so much dry extract to the back-end and the wine has Grand Cru weight and outstanding length.

Has a big whiff of struck match to the aroma. Fruit is crisp, clear and crunchy. There's a dollop of almond butter and the wine has 1er Cru richness and intensity. It has great mineral/citrus cut and leaves a real chalky calling card once swallowed. Fabulous!

There’s preserved lemon, white peach, citrus blossom and gunflint on the nose. It is rich but linear with the most chalky, chewy finish loaded with dry extract. I love the tension and precision here.

First time I tasted this producer and this was a very nice experience. Great minerals and fruit. Typically fat and Meursault like. A bit young but nice now even if its going to be more interesting in 2-3 years from now

Nose: very refined. Taste: rather prominent acidity, very refined fruit and minerals; it kept in my mind for more than an hour. This seems to me a high quality white wine, but for me to young at this moment. Apparently it can be kept until 2018, I would keep it for three, four years. For now 89; potentially 91+?

Jasper class. Pale straw, reductive style. Reasonably intense if not particularly long.
