Harmony, persistence, restrained opulence paired with unrestrained elegance. Graceful and supremely satisfying. (My scores have been subject to strict reduction since the previous bottle.)

My last bottle of the Perrieres by Etienne Sauzet and every single bottle impressed me tremendously. Light golden and yellow colour. On the nose citrus, honey and a hint of flowers (acacia?). On the palate citrus yet again, apple (grannysmith) and a bit mineral. Impressive length and in a perfect drinking spot, maybe even a bit on the decline. So drink up.....

Pretty much exactly how you want your white burgundy to turn out after a suitable spell in the cellar. Harmony, persistence, restrained opulence paired with unrestrained elegance. Graceful and supremely satisfying. Decanted and aired at 10 degrees C. for about 45 minutes.

Light and fresh color. Extraordinary pure and elegant Puligny aromas with lime, flowers and chalky minerals. Smooth and delicate, but also intense and focused.

this was sublime. opened it up; no nose at first; and deep golden hue; a hint of premox. after ten minutes, the nose started to open, but the body and finish started to unwind. one hour later, this is fantastic. a fuller nose of white stone fruits with some stony elements. but its the body to finish that make this great. bright lemon curd with some butter notes, salinity, great minerality. more lush fruit comes out as it opens and as we have it with salmon, rich cheese and crackers - but the acidity soars and cuts all of the richness of the food and more fruit and minerality comes out. the last few sips show a long long long finish that is quintessential white burgundy. This was great.

Richebourg + RSV for Mike and Pete's birthday (Holland Park, Singapore): Still too young, but pretty good. The nose had a bit of plump white fruit fringed with a bit of tropical ripeness, and then drifts of cream and minerality. Very Sauzet in how rich that nose was. The palate was quite fat but also rather tight, with plenty of ripe melons and tropical fruit, but somehow still coming across a bit monolithic and simple. Balance was good, and there was nice depth and a solid sense of power, especially on the midpalate and into a Long finish, but this really needs time to come around.

härligt mogen och rund, kanske saknar det där sista bettet som man vill ha men man kan inte få allt varje dag. klockren till hälleflundra och en liten hummer på sjömagasinet

Clear & bright, muted nose, nothing complex or interesting, but at least this bottle ( one of four ) is not prematurely oxidised whereas two of the four were so Decent enough on the palate, but now drying out with little fruit. Underwhelming to say the least, particularly in view of the price.

Something has gone wrong with this bottle. Not premoxed but muted on the nose and huge acid on palate. The fruit is all gone. I adore Sauzet but this was a big letdown.

Given price and (for me faltering) reputation this was underwhelming. Not obviously over-oaked (for me at any rate), but everything too slight and understated in my view. Disappointing.

The nose grows on you and the evening lingers. A Pinocchio wine that DOES not lie. Excellent acidity and balance in the lemon, pear, and white flowers pleasure that was purchased at great value -$70 a bottle for case. Delicious, a pedigree finish and drinkable now.

Light hay in color, nose shows some apparent subtle wood and hints of floral fruit; quite rich and juicy, fair acidity, nice depth to start, but fades a bit quickly on the mid-palate and finish.

I did not find this as oaky as Charlie wrote in his note. I did put a good chill on the wine, as it was a warm evening last night, but the wine to me showed good lemon-lime character, some mineral and nice texture. I suppose if I would have let the wine warm to room temp, perhaps the oak could have shown more but I just don't see it to Charlie's level. I will say the Combettes 08 showed some oak recently but not this Perrieres.

Why is there so much oak on this wine. Second time I've had it (last time was a little over a year ago) and it was still just as oaky. Lots of bright tropical fruit on the front but it just gets overwhelmed on the finish by oak. I do not care at all for Sauzet, all the 07/08's i've had have been oak bombs (as much as Burgundy can have an oakbomb)
