The bottle declares: drink within 5 years! So how does this wine hold up after 30+ years? Extraordinarily well is the easy answer. This is easily one of my favorite Zinfandel wines I've ever had. The wine itself endured remarkably well: the color is a deep garnet with just a little bricking on the edges, the aroma dark and brambly with a little healthy stink, and the palette retains a real store of fruit (ripe strawberry), earth (mushrooms and riparian soil), and a touch of acidity. There's maybe a little acetobacter and brett to give it a special personality. Exceptional.
