3110 and Friends: Cherry, rhubarb, some olive and a light herbal note in the background. Plenty of freshness on the palate, it does have the famous Faiveley tannins but they are starting to settle down and integrate rather nicely with the sweet fruit. Was lifted a notch when we had it with some food and I very much liked the balance between restraint and the fruit weight. For a 1987 Burgundy, this was an exceptional showing.

Tasting 4 Red burgundy and 4 California Pinot Noir. Had a tremendous nose that was nearly perfect, the fruit was rich, complex, intensely sweet body with a perfect finish. Frist place, Group #1.

An Offbeat 1987 Burgundy Birthday Dinner (and One Late Addendum); 10/4/2009-10/10/2009 (San Francisco): Also fairly light. Pure herb, green tones, and black fruit aromatics. Light weight, more serious black fruit than the Charmes.
