Tasted like a Napa Cab, but there was something confused about the wine I couldn't quite put my finger on, something muddled that just didn't have the purity I would have expected from this. Might have been recently transported.

It smell really "like" a Bordeaux GCC, but the sweetness reveals its true identity. In my opinion Stag's Leap Cellar has to develop their own stuffs, otherwise the glorious 1976 Jugement de Paris will be a nightmare. I love the elegance that many Napa wines lack of, the change of aromas with time is also brilliant. Worth a try.

Extremely over-rated and underwhelming. This is what big business does to wine. Opened several hours ahead, decanted for an hour. No real change over that time, no potential. Not something for my cellar.

This was my favorite wine of the tasting but unfortunately the most expensive. It had some complex aromas of berries and cassis, with flavors of dark fruits and chocolate that lingered of the palate, ending with a nice long finish.

An absolutely beautiful wine. Perfectly balanced, not too strong on any one note (ie. tannic, cavey, etc.). Rather a wonderful, mellow blend of deep, dark flavors, dark fruit, dark chocolate, and currant. Very smooth finish, beautiful color, understated nose that gives way to the most well-structured wine I have tasted.

San Antonio Wine Geeks (The Home of Dave Lew): This was initially severed blind and despite being decanted for several hours was a complete mess on initial tasting. The nose was nothing but oak, toast, vanilla and a weird damp mushroom note. Palate was acidic, thin, but paradoxically seemed viscous in the mouth with a little plum and currant. Strong vanilla finish. Horribly unbalanced at first and admittedly I just dumped it. After a few more hours it had come together with the oak notes fading some and allowing more red fruit and a little chocolate coming though and at that point was an enjoyable though unremarkable Cali cab 88 points at peak performance. I was shocked when it was revealed as it showed none of the coffee/volcanic rock character I associate with Stags leap. Hold and hope this comes together with time…

This one demonstrated that the wine ages well, a real deep Smokey flavour on the nose but still retains a while bunch of blackberries

Notes of leather, tobacco and dark berries. Unbelievably smooth. Surprisingly paired great with BOTH grilled filet mignon and king crab legs

A near perfect bottle. Such a treat and a steal at just over $100.

Balanced throughout with a slight peppery finish. Silky smooth mouthfeel with a good balance of dark fruit and soft tannins.

A week of wine and this was the star. Even beat the Dominus.

Wow. The rustic flavors of mountain fruit are tamed here, letting the black fruits, plums and violets really shine.
