  • This is a wine that needed some age. I opened a bottle last night and it has developed wonderful minty flavors reminiscent of classic Heitz Martha's Vineyard. If you waited, good for you!

  • Actually an enjoyable easy going Cailf blend. Has the stuff to stick with roasted veggies, herbed Chicken and potatoes. More Oak than I typically prefer to add punch, but the mid-palate black and blue berry, mild tobacco flavors on nice. Not one to seek out, but nice to have on hand as a qualified table red. Probably lost some bang since last tasting. This is not one to store, but one to drink.

  • 2007 Napa Cabs $20 to $40ish: The groups overwhelming last place wine. A poor showing for both Treasure Hunter wines. The nose was actually kind of nice with cassis and coffee notes. On the palate, this was slippery in texture, disjointed, tannic and herbal. There was this core of generic Cabernet that made it drinkable if you were at a party and the options were limited. Another in a line of "shh, this is really declassified juice from _____". Maybe so, but there is a reason it was declassified. At $5, it might be worth it although I find Charles Shaw equally as good. I suspect it is closer to $15 or more.

  • Drank this bottle with Mike approx. 6 weeks ago and it was tasting nice. For some reason, this bottle was way off the mark, heavy-duty saddle soap with milky texture, may have been slightly oxidized.

  • Much better than expected!! This is a real nice Red blend, based on the Cain 5 Cuvee. It has all the right parts and pieces, and gives alot more for the money. High QPR. It's very flexible. Good Red fruit, some cocoa, leather, and earth. Tannins were present but mild. Generally good balance of acidity and tannins. Worth a try!

  • *Please note this is a Meritage blend of all 5 Bordeaux varietals, not strictly Cabernet. I could not find the 2007 breakdown, but from the winery's website the 2008 is 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Franc, 9% Petit Verdot, 2% Malbec.

This wine features hints of coffee along with dark fruit on the nose, palate, and finish. Good acidity, good tannins, lengthy finish.
