floral - wow the voignier plays a big part here. THis is new worls for sur, b ut I like Oregonian take on this. This has a lot of balance, but is also sweet with blue fruits shining thru. I don't know about the old world references, but think for the money this is an excellently crafted new world syrah.

As always, or maybe, as Bill notes, the wine wants a piece of you. Savage -- "fierce, cruel, untamed" seems to fit.
Enough poetry: doesn't nearly have the high toned orange zest note that I experienced in the 2005 vintage -- although this is from a difference vineyard source. Here much more dark, brooding -- anchovy and olive off of the cork pull. Three hours in, ronouced pancetta, earth, and met. Belligerent wine. Again "untamed, fierce, savage."
This is a wine.
Best three hours open, youthful, fierce in acidity, fleshy, and beautiful. Worthy every penny at $40 IMHO.

I like it but so much better on day 2, which just tells you, GIVE IT MORE TIME! Hold onto it for another year or so, then drink.

Cumin and really gosh darn funky off the cork pull. Very tea leaf-esque at this point. Really fun but I think the bottle has an issue.
I think this one is flawed.

Very polished and smooth tannins. Nice spice and excellent finish. Great wine for the price.

Extra-ordinarly beautiful on day two. Lots of blueberry fruit with a brooding sense of darkness to it. This is very fine wine.

Dark and knarly. Roasted nuts and bacon. "Wet burnt wood" one taster notes. Toned with high acid. Very exicting stuff. Very agressive.
