Fantastic golden color indicating its age. All the characteristics of aged Marsanne, fantastic length. Acid and “crispness” still present to carry it through. The “oilyness “ that you often get with aged Marsanne was missing. Medium bodied for a white wine - I don’t believe it is going to get any better. Great VFM.

This grape is so hard to rate. Amazing colour, great nose. Beautiful oaky, buttery chardonnay style on the first taste but instead of finishing thick and unpleasant it finishes crisp! Unfortunately for me this bottle kept a bit of bitterness with the crispness so was not great without food. Still amazing value though and well worth putting a few in the cellar to see how they evolve. Got a couple left so looking forward to them

Great drinking now! Melon, honey, apricot aromas, accompanied with some herbaceous and mineral aromas, finished of with a fresh acidity, make it and all round superb drinking experience. Good length. Slight oily mouthfeel gives the Wine an extra richness that sets it apart from an aged Hunter Semillon. Perfect match to a salmon pasta dish with lobster white wine sauce.

Screw cap. 13.5% alc. Gold. Pear, peach, citrus, honey. Mid-full palate, with a lovely texture and mouthfeel. There's an oily note, which adds to the fruit here. Nice with food too.

White gold, aromas of peach, apricot, lemon, lime, nougat. To taste the palate has medium weight with stone fruits and pronounced lemon and lime zesty finish which lingers long after the wine has been swallowed. As good as ever. Love it.

An extraordinary wine that divided opinion. Deep gold. Nose is unctuous and exotic. Rather full-bodied on the palate for Tahbilk. Fascinating in a difficult to pin down way. This certainly shows the ageing potential.
Glorious golden colour. Toast, marmalade, honey, lemon drops, vanilla, with acidity keeping it in balance. The first properly aged Marsanne I have tried, bought direct from winery. By happy chance the 2009 was also the very first young Marsanne I tasted, back in 2010. I reckon it’s got a point better fwiw though of course it is now a fantastically different beast. Only thing lacking for higher points is length, but that’s a minor quibble, this is very special.

Medium-bodied. So enjoyable. No oxidation or rough edges. The nose is of lemon curd and citrus blossom. The weight and texture more than the nose distinguish it from a Hunter semillon.

Pale gold. Intense aromas of aviation fuel, lime cordial and then nougat and hazelnut which hides in the background. Round, smooth texture, acidity is there but beautifully balanced by the ripe lime and apricot. Wonderful intense aromas and flavours. Great value for money, about £11 for this bottle. In a blind tasting you’d put your house on it being an aged Riesling.

Great wine, really rewarding patience. Does everything expected of a good Marsanne particularly well. Will go for years yet and probably improve with it.

{screwcap, 13.5%} Just glorious. Mid-yellow. Developing nose of honeysuckle, lemon, lanolin, vanilla bean, all of which appear on the palate as rich flavours, which still has balanced supporting acidity. Medium/full-bodied, with a long, zesty, spicy finish. Staggeringly good wine for the price, aging wonderfully under screwcap, and will likely hold for another 5-7 years happily. Really good.

GMs - The Blending Sessions: Honey, lemon and light herbs - not highly aromatic. Quite sweet and honeyed on the palate, I'd personally like a little more acidity here and I don't think further time will really help.

Gorgeous and great value as usual - medium to medium deep yellow gold - great citrus/marzipan/lanolin nose, nice palate, great mouthfeel w excellent acidity, but round smooth edges - flavours are minerally, citrus, v long and deep, particularly for the price-a no-brainer at around $15. This will also to age gracefully for years to come.

Nose of lemon marmalade, with hints of petrol, apple, and butter lettuce. Palate is light-bodied and acid-dominant, but still has a hint of weight behind it. Flavours of mineral water, lemon, and artichoke.

{screwcap, 13.5%} Evolving nose of honeysuckle and lanolin. Fairly dense palate; has fullness of waxy flavours but enough discreet acid to hold it together. Medium-bodied. Dry finish of medium length; this is developing nicely and will be top drinking for at least another 5-8 years I reckon.

I liked this, it hit our sweet spot and another excellent Aussie of Rhone varietals - Gold, full bodied with a nose of peach, honey, petrol, flowers and vanilla, well structured, nicely balanced, complex, dry, sweet on the palate with great length, outstanding (90 Points).

{screwcap, 13.5%, A$12} Very clsoed nose indeed. A little sweat, vague furry-smelling lemon-like notes. The palate is equally strange, tasting more like a lightly-oaked Soave than Tahbilk Marsanne. An oddly dense texture (perhaps the rather higher-than-normal alcohol is a factor?) is the major impression; it's mostly a wet, thickly-built mouthful of liquid which just tends towards warmth on the finish. Tastes of earth and oil rather than much fruit. Medium-bodied, and not a long finish - at least not one with much flavour. So unrewarding to drink now you may as well hang on to it in the hope of the ugly duckling/swan transformation; but gosh, there had better be some acid here that I can't detect for that to happen. Very mysterious wine.

My quest for single varietal Marsanne I love continues. This is a harder varietal standalone, yet shines in a blend with Viognier, Roussanne, Grenache Blanc. I opened and tasted the first night, and after reading notes and experience with the varietal let it set 24 hours.
Clear, straw color. The nose opened nicely; lemon, green apple, some stone fruit and white peach. Its nice when it first hits the palate, but suffers a bit on the mid palate, is ok on the finish. Barrel fermentation, lees stirring, might help to give mouthfeel, texture, density.
But for the money, and for something bright and acidic, this does well, and drank better with some time.

First night drunk alongside fish baked in a lemony sauce, the marsanne tasted crisp and sharp, mostly apple, lemon, mandarin. After night in the fridge, drunk alone, was quite different, marmalade-ish albeit not so sweet plus some toast on nose and up front, slightly waxy, with hint of marzipan sweetness at the back... real good.

The most fruit forward and ripe and just plain 'in your face' Tahbilk marsanne I have had in living memory. Lots of lemon juice, sour bitterness, some acid happening, although the waxy broad marsanne fruits are perhaps more evident on the nose than palate (indeed might have picked as gewurz if smelt blind). Easy to pass off as a little dumb but I reckon it had a certain appeal. Perhaps not a keeper but none the less very reliable.
