Why I have held onto this for so long I have no idea. Alas it was time to go. Had a glass on night 1 after about an hour of airtime. It was okay, it didn’t scream meaty or fruits, rather nondescript. I stuck the cork back in hoping for a turnaround on the second day as I was done for the night anyway. Day 2 followed similar to day 1 after tracking for several hours. Just okay, nothing new. This actually had a bit of Grenache in it that surprised me along with the standard Viognier addition. Drink up.

Dark fruit (black cherry, slight plum), nice vanilla, slight spice, slight oak, earth. Some tannins. Good acidity. Lingering finish. Really enjoyable. Better with an hour or so of air. Popped and poured

Tasted at Ridge winery. Vertical flight of 06, 11 and 04. Beautifully evolved, prune, pepper, smoky. Persistent and complex. We thought the 06 didnt have same complexity but 11 could get there.

Cellared since release. Popped and poured. No apparent signs of visual age. Ripe blueberries and plums. Brand new baseball glove and some bits of bacon fat. Tannins are well integrated at this point. Good acidity and perfect with burgers and garden fresh BLT's. Delicious. Drink now and over the next few years.

Stands up well to grilled rack of lamb. Nice fruit underneath partly hidden by a modest cloak of oak. I prefer the 2102 Domaine Faury St. Joseph we had last night.

- Crimsom color - Big wine, but balanced. Extremely dark color, almost black, with black cherry taste predominant. Needed to be served w meat such as lamb or steak. Overwhelmed chicken and salmon.

Tasted at the winery. Tasted alongside the '10 Syrah/Grenache. Color was extremely clear with some bricking. This clearly had some age on it with dusty fruit and dusty tannins.

A Tasting at Ridge (Ridge Vineyards Lytton Springs Estate): Deep core with a light meniscus. Aromas of wood, cedar and red fruit, cinnamon and meat. Medium-bodied with flavors of dried earth, red fruit and spice. Still quite tannic and even a bit austere.

PnP. Drank over 3 hours. Mostly oak notes upon initial tasting, but integrated very nicely after about 1.5 hours of air time. Very smooth. To me, this is a more light/elegant syrah than I am used to. A little hot on the finish. Very nice and great with food. Drink over the next 3 years.

Gave all afternoon in the decanter. Deep brick red in the glass. Nose jumps with an unexpected chocolate, and funky earthy/forest spices. A wee bit of coffee/leather in there too? The palate is rich and succulent with black berry and dark cherries. Subtle eucalyptus notes and dark tones in the background give this lots of flavor depth. Intriguing and delicious.

Some other older Ridge ATPs didn't work last weekend. Deep cherry flavor, long finish with a bite at the end, little green bramble like flavor maybe from Grenache

Very smooth tannins and nicely aged fruit. Long, pleasant aftertaste and very pleasant drinking. Also a big nose that made you want to savor the wine. Served last half of bottle with a wood grilled porterhouse and it proved to be a perfect wine match.

A bit different than I expected. Smooth, smooth, smooth at first, with a bit of kick at the end. While I tend to prefer wines with more acidity, this is extremely tasty.

Brilliant dark burgundy, touch of purple when poured. Lovely nose, blueberry/strawberry, wine. Big wine, dry, still some tannins to hold this together. Some alchohol on the front, but smooths out quickly. Medium-long finish with a bit of chocolate and coffee. Lovely wine.

This may be the anti-Ridge: gravel, flint, pencil lead, and mineral all up front; with the cherry, blackberry, and strawberry riding behind. A forceful tannic kick at the end. Scent of candied fruit and strawberry jam that gives way to a lingering a floral note. The balance is not all the way there yet - maybe a few years to go. But very strong overall.

Most excellent, but way too young. Nose of roasted meat, earth, cassis, leather. A beautiful syrah, but too young. Very tannic right now. Still enjoyable though.

Really nice, open nose. A bold, black-fruited wine with an herb-tinged earth note. In the mouth, this has smoothed out somewhat. It's got a classy, refined mouth feel but doesn't lose any of its size and boldness. The palate is velvety, with loads of black fruit. Balanced, with plenty of tannic kick on the finish still. B+/A-

Still drinking nicely. I decanted because the cork fell apart. It’ll probably probably go over the hill fairly soon.

Still showing some good light fruit, though the alc seems to be showing through a bit more than when the wine was younger. Very tasty.

Simple, smooth, salty, silky with a bit of leather and earth. Really nice balance and well restrained fruit.
I was new to this wine when I tasted at the winery last year. Now it tastes at least as good as my first experience.

Nose - Wow! Heady, intense, youthful, smoky Syrah fruit. Dusty sandalwood, black pepper, various floral notes, very dense with savory oak that reminds me of Harrington Wines.
Dense blackberry, savory Harrington-like oak, dark, rich, jujube, floral and peach notes, leathery/chalky tannin. Drink '15-'25. 91+ pts
