  • This is close to final consumption. Lost fruit but with some air it is still worth drinking

  • Opague burgundy color with some bricking, PnP, nose of strawberries, cranberries, cherries, allspice, pepper, rose petals, tobacco, dry leaves, cedar. Palate is medium body, mouth coating, fruit is delicious and repeats the nose flavors, very smooth, good acidity and fine layers of tannins that are well integrated. Finish is long. I loved it. Good quality for the price for Grand Cru level

  • The wine pours a murky brownish maroon color with long legs, which was weird considering the relative youth of the wine. On the nose, the wine certainly shows its relative development. Pungent and concentrated, the wine displays violets, strawberry jam, mushroom, red fruits, damp earth, truffles and burnished leather. The fruit forwardness in this is quite intense. On the palate, the wine is light-footed. That said, it is still textured with clearly delineated layers of fruits, mulch (and other tertiary flavors) and acids. Tannins are well integrated and the wine is quite svelte on the tongue. Flavors of blackberries, star anise, licorice, and tobacco dominate the core. I am surprised by how fruit forward the wine yet again, so much so that I am misled to believe that this is an aged Sonoma pinot, had it not been for the presence of minerals and balancing acids. Finish is lengthy, gamey and smokey. Very delicious juice indeed.

  • As I've noted on previous bottles, this is a very light weight Charmes-Chambertin, but the depth and nuance here is exceptional and to my tastes this is hitting on all cylinders right now.

  • Again, this is delightful and, to my tastes, at its peak, a bantamweight charmer. Delicious almost immediately after opening.

  • Abundant, penetrating, sweet red fruit, earthy sous bois notes, all in a lighter bodied format with subtle depth. Today, this bottle was starting to show some stewed fruit notes that I don't prefer, if this turns out to be a representative bottle, then I'll be drinking up my last 1/2 case in the nearish future.

  • Light red, hazy brown / orange; very likeable intense raspberry nose; wonderful exploding attack, roses, lots of red flowers, to begin with lean with good acidity, later becoming rounded plus sweet and mild, light expression with lots of flavours and intensity, long aftertaste; very good wine

  • Again, this is drinking really well tonight. Light and delicate with lots of depth and complexity to the red cherry, earth, souls bois and Asian spice notes. There's also a subtle tarry undertone. Really a delight.

  • Light garnet. Nose offers up small red fruits, spice , coffee and under growth. Very feminine in style, delicate but with power and finesse .
    Lovely lighter style Burg.

  • Consistent with my previous notes. This is not a powerhouse, rather, it's a delicate wine of finesse with excellent depth and complexity. Drinking really well tonight with 3 or 4 hours of air.

  • This was really pretty tonight and very consistent with previous CT reviews. Barely darker than rose with bricking throughout, although I suspect the bricking looks that way because the wine is so pale to begin with. The palate is displaying very good depth to the delicate, but intense, fruit driven flavors. There's lots of earth and sous bois with hints of Asian spice. To my tastes, this is drinking beautifully tonight with just an hour or so of double decanting and appears to be on a quickish evolutionary track. We'll see, buts its delicious right now.

  • So after Keith and Ehrlich, I guess I like this most of all -- so far. I too was surprised by the advanced colour of this wine. It's quite light, and looks older than it is; I'd call it light brick red with brownish tones. That said, and having little experience with New World pinots, I find the sous-bois, mushroom and red fruits on the nose typical of Burgundy, but generally of an older model. In the mouth it's well-balanced, with good acid, integrated tannins and some of the licorice described by the others. It isn't as good (to me) as this producer's 2007 Charmes, which I thought was exceptional. But it's quite delicious, and ready for drinking now and for perhaps five more years.

  • I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Keith's note is spot on in terms of describing the wine but I think I liked it a bit more. I serve my wife a glass and she asks "How old is this?" The color is purplish and browning and not at all what you'd expect for an 8 year old Grand Cru. There is a purity to the fruit that is generally found in New World pinot. There are also notes of licorice and cola which are also typical of the New World. However, it is all underpinned by funk and minerals that is pure Burgundy. This is drinking well at the moment and I see no reason not to drink these now.

  • This was a very weird split personality of a wine. I believe Jancis had a note calling it New Worldy. When I poured the first glass I thought she was on crack. From the pale color barely darker than rosé to its welterweight presence and flavors very reminiscent of a Truchot but sans funk, New World pinot would have been the last thing on my mind. And then... and then! A bit of sweet licorice pokes through the otherwise fairly tertiary and earthy flavors and the material steadily gets more and more glossy. It is a really dramatic change. It's not that it even feels much riper, just shinier. It still has burgundian proportions but dammit if it doesn't taste kind of New Worldy. Maybe more New Zealand like than California though.

  • Pale transparent red. Aromas of strawberry, jam and florals. Light bodied and elegant, ripe berry flavours, and a fresh finish.

  • Pale strawberry in colour and light-medium in weight. Nose completely closed down. Light, sweet strawberry flavours. This did nothing for me and in my opinion is nowhere near Grand Cru quality. Estimated maturity: 2013+
