  • This is excellent. A bright nose of light fruit, some oak and forest floor. The palate is bright light fruit and cedar with excellent balance. Everything has come together nicely. Well done and a very good buy.

  • Rite of Spring at Chevalier Wines (Chicago, IL): Lots of brightness to the red fruit here, and there's some of that crunchy red fruited character of 2008 as well on show. Lots of acidity on display here, but the sweet fruit from 2008 that I remember clearly seems to have totally vanished. Hope that this will round out with time.

  • This carries the stamp of Damoy through and through - lots of dense oak cutting through the fruit and leaving its mark. But yet......the fruit and terroir still has a say even at this young age. Big, meaty fruit with black cherries, teeth clinging tannins and a dense feel..... 10 years will put some serious complexity into this wine. The raw materials are there....but that is what they are right now......should be brilliant ...providing you can wait. Approachable now.

Edit: After 2 hours this really starts to show the oak - so much so that it could be mistaken for an oaky Rioja.
