Blackberry, black olive and raspberry. blood and iron, violets and earth, dark chocolate with hints of mint and bay lea, soft old leather. Subtle grippy tannin. Complex and interesting wine. Long savoury finish. Great gear. Supreme value for money.

Ok. Tasted a little young and cheap which was a bit disappointing. Peppery aftertaste was bearable when eating, but the final glass after dinner wasn't very nice

Boring indeed. But has youthful colour and no sign of being past it. I will wait a few years before opening another. Nothing to lose apart from the opportunity cost of a cellaring space foregone. The 2006 cabernet is much better.

Lashings of old oak, mulberry, cocoa, cloves. The palate is dominated by leather, spice, and mature red fruit soaked in brandy. Long, balanced finish, with good spice. I'd never have guessed it, but this reminds me of an aged Rioja Gran Reserva. In a good way. Plenty of oak, plenty of secondary aromas, everything wrapped up in a silky smooth package. Very nice, and much, much better than last time around.

Garnet with some maturation towards the rim. Tight, scroungy nose, acidic red fruit and old oak. Bloody screwcaps. After a while, I get sandalwood, herbs, bacon, thyme, blackberry jam. Very lean on the palate, tight, not much fruit, herbs and raspberry, but it isn't bad, it's fresh and well built. Finishes tightly, again, with crunchy raspberry fruit and a whack of grape skin acidity. Not completely in harmony and a bit tight, but I like it. It isn't flabby and overblown. Questionable value, though. Drink now

Had this wine a second time. Not at all as good as the previos time and also not as good as the 2008 I had some weeks ago. Not very tasty and no nose to speak of.

Nice wine, but nothing spectacular. Giving this an extra point since it is a red my wife will drink. Well integrated tannins and nice red fruit. Decent QPR.

Very immediate nose with plenty of blueberry. The wine is elegant, tastes blueberry, is on the brink of being too much, but never crosses the thin line. Right after opening the wine is somewhat short, but it improves after some air. Decant 30-60 minutes or open the bottle 2-4 hours in advance.

Spicy black fruits, reticent; palate is a hint tannic, red fruits, good acid. Thought it was a meritage blend when served blind, but the nose was classic syrah. 85-86

Beautiful nose of blackberry, currant, peeper. Very good wine. Hint of sour fruit in mid-pallate, but nice dark berries, great tannins, vanilla, cocoa. Medium finish.

Somewhat closed nose of black cherry, plum and cassis. Moderately tannic backbone for ripe and thick cherry flavors. Cherry and raspberry flavors mid palate with a full mouthfeel. A touch of alcoholic heat on a medium length finish.

Deep violet in the glass. Black cherry, plum, cassis and anise on the nose. Ripe cherry flavors with a medium to full body and rich mouthfeel, characteristic of older vines. Has the tannic structure to cellar well for several years, but probably isn't going to improve. Medium length and slightly spicy finish. Paired nicely with curried lamb tips over Basmati rice and crisp garden salad.

Dark purple colour. Dark fruited with a fair whack of creamy, cedar oak. Very ripe, typical Australian style. Med-bodied, drinking nice now with good future.

Great aroma but after that it was disappointing. A bit bitter and a bit watery. Still good wine, but not a great wine

Blackberry and cassis up front, a hint of sour berry on the mid-palate and a disconcerting note of dried fruit on the finish. Better drink it up now.
