still drinking very well with strong cherry fruit, mushroom and a bit of earth. Well balanced. Probably won't get better, but definitely not beyond its prime.

A great balance of fruit and structure. Cherry and cedar in the nose. When I poured, everyone remarked on the vivid bouquet. Cherry and cranberry with balanced tannins and a long finish.

Some brett in the wine. The nose has an organic quality, barnyard, hay and freshly cut bison grass. It's not at levels that would be considered a fault, but definitely an acquired taste. Some red fruit and cinnamon on the front palate (Rhone), but quickly fades through the mid and back palate giving way to hay and some lingering bitterness. A short and watery finish follows. An interesting wine to sample, but proves to be unremarkable.

03/24/12 - Deep and dark red. There's a musty, but not unpleasant, touch on the nose. Not as rich and dense as other GSM blends, with fruit tending to red berry with spice. The fruit makes a brief peak at the finish but fades quickly to a lingering acidity.

a great balance of fruit and structure. Lots of cherry and cedar in the nose, cherry and cranberry predominate on the palate with refined tannins and a long finish

A great Friday night wine with Red Sauce and meatballs. Briery and peppery and a perfect compliment to the Red Sauce. Will save my remaining stash to enjoy this winter. A nice earthy nose and overall savory feel to this one. Bravo!

Interesting, but a touch lacking in fruit and wondering if it will open up a bit as it breathes, certainly not a '91' by any stretch (usually I trust Kim Marcus, but he apppears a bit off on this) - Dark, medium/full bodied with a nose of dusty cherry, slight kirsch, chocolate and vanilla, quite tannic and dry, a touch lacking in fruit, dusty, dry on the palate with decent length (87 Points).

While this did open up with air, the palate was flat with a somewhat bitter finish. Interesting nose of kirsch and smoked meat, what you'd expect from a GSM. Mild tannin with medium acidity. It just doesn't really pop on the palate from mid-palate to finish. Some heat as well. Medium body.

Showing some brett and a little black olive, with lots of plum & black cherry, charred meat, baking spice, and vanilla. At once rustic and modern, but not at all graceful or particularly exciting.

I can't get enough of this stuff; weird, wild, with funk, black raspberries, burnt rubber, garrigue. One of the best wine bargains ever. I like this more every time I drink it.

Of the eight vintages of La Mejanelle I've tried, this is the easiest to drink at release. Full, silky and almost quaffable, with only a faint mineral taste, it opens up the moment the cork is pulled.
I can't rate how it develops in the glass yet, because our dinner party lapped up the bottle in about 15 minutes. I will definitely be getting more, so I hope to find out.

took an hour to open, but then was well balanced, structured and easy drinking. Tannin is well refined, no alcohol or unpleasant notes.

the fruit is still strong, but the balance on this bottle was slightly awry. While this is holding up well I fear it may be just past its peak.

Close to a perfect GSM blend at 50/30/20. Most enjoyable for about $12.50 a bottle.

I thought it was great but the gals thought otherwise. Decanted for 1+ hours. Found it fruity, soft and round. Great easy finish. Wish I bought more.
