Senior wine, its showing secondary and terciary aromas. Tannins have softenned inmensly, it’s smooth and easy to drink. Its earthy, dark red fruit, minerals and spices. Its drinking beautifully, but its about ready to start hitting the slope to go down. It will not get better.

N: FRAGRANT, [naturally] oxygenated aromas, but COULDN'T parse
P: LM body; NICE, ALMOST swtish frt met by an astringent pucker which only somewhat resolves as transitions into a LONG, very, VERY slightly spicy finish with a TANGY/swtness to the decidedly inoffensive dusty tanning. My EXC/EXC+. For now & likely making its 30th.
Note: 2 more experienced tasters than I felt this was further advanced than they might have expected.

Fantastic nose of mature black currant, sweet oak, mint and spice! Medium-bodied, this is now silky smooth and probably toward the end of it's aging curve, but oh-so delicious! A slight hint of smoke and minerals adds definition and interest to the palate. Absolutely delicious, wish I had another! This is still so fresh and alive! Bravo. 92 df 9.3

The cork crumbled when I opened it. However the bottom was dry. I had to push the rest of the cork into the bottle and then strained it into a decanter. Although it was good, I think 20 years was a little too long to wait. It certainly improved with decanting.

Dark purple, slight brown on the edge. silky, full mouth feel. Not much tannins left. Fruit faded a bit but still enjoyable. Past its best years but complexity still showing.

Last bottle. Popped and poured with grilled angus steaks, wild rice and tomato salad. Tannins are almost completely gone but still very good mountain cab fruits. I would not decant as it seemed to fade throughout dinner (maybe trouble standing up to the meal?). Was best right out of the bottle with freshly baked artisan garlic bread.

Cork was soaked and red but the last 1/2 inch was still dry. Tannins have almost completely faded but the bottle was good nonetheless with classic mountain cab fruit still prevalent. I think this was our first bottle so no history to compare to. No need to decent and very little sediment.

I really had to wrestle with the scoring on this one. On the one hand, I'm a sucker for a good aged cab, and love Mt Veeder fruit. This is a nice representation of both. On the other hand, it doesn't quite have the smoothness or elegance of some other recently tasted Cab / Cab blends. Nose is aged cab fruit on a bed of cedar. Palate - medium bodied after being open for a couple hours (a bit acidic prior to that). Still has some tannins present on the finish. Given I like Cab in it's more mature versions, I wouldn't hesitate to hold well stored bottles for another couple of years. As an aside, this is another wine that's been written up in a WS "retrospective" where my tastes and the reviewer's are very poorly aligned. Interestingly, while this wine scores poorly in the retrospective (86pts), it originally scored 94 pts, and was #3 in the top 100 for 1995.

This wine was consumed during a leg of lamb dinner and came from a friends cellar. Great fruit still present but tannins were disappearing. Very enjoyable mouth filling glass of wine. I believe that properly cellared bottles of this vintage are good for at least another year.

Winebar [4 Whites, 8 Reds, & 7 *shared* Reds] from 01/04/19 (Vintage Wines Ltd., San Diego, CA): José, I'm *particularly GRATEFUL as this is so close in age to the '91 tasted last wk! :)
Part of a collection of dubious storage

Firm, fruit forward, dark and brooding. A cab built to last!

Solid cabernet with good body and finish; not a ton of fruit, but still showing fine 15 years later

Low neck fill level, but cork pliable and intact with no leakage. Tons of fruit, surprising depth. With Bobby Flay pork tenderloin recipe.

yum - still showing good primary fruit, with a very supple texture and a smooth finish, with moderate length. Surprisingly delicious.

Pretty much at the end of its prime, good red berries. Tannins are all but gone, smooth and long finish.
