Massive and heavy bottle, massive and heavy wine. Definitely on the sweet side of red wines, but red cherry from beginning to the end, plus vivid acidity make this wine very juicy and very drinkable. Tannins are very well mixed with the fluid. What else we have here - black cherry, plum, but also delicious red currant, cranberries. Black chocolate and cocoa is here too. Very good balance. No spice for good or bad. Short finish. The smell is lovely. Red cherry, blackberry, minerals, graphite. Very addictive wine.

Firm tannins and vivid apperance. Nice dark red colour. No signs of deterioration. Good acidity but less prominent aromas. Quite short finish. Nice to know: The former owner of this domaine is mr. Gosset, one of the sons of the owner of Champagne Gosset. Due to inheritance tax, mr Gosset was forced to sell Champagne Gosset and started domaine Chateau de la Grille. The wine is bottled in Champagne Gosset bottles which explains the unfamiliar shape of the bottles. Mr. Gosset unfortunately had to sell Chateau de la Grille because his philosophy was to cellar all the wines he produced until they were properly matured prevwnting the wines to be drunk to young. This strategy caused a serious financial issue which led to selling the property to Maison Baudry-Du Tour in 2009.

enjoyable Cab Franc, soft, flavours were slightly muted with some nice earthy tones mixed with vegetal, I think overall this wine is pleasurable but not complex

Vraiment un excellent Chinon. Carafé une bonne heure, robe foncée, fraîcheur, poivron, beaucoup de matière, de fruits. L'intégration semble bien débutée et le meilleur est à venir. J'aimerais en avoir d'autres....

Pretty much clamped shut for now with the fruit receding behind the tannins and structure right now. Very rigid and firm fruit cut through with white pepper powder elements. Needs some time - much more closed than when previously drunk a year ago.

Drank over two days, first day was 'ok' but the acidity was not in balance decided to see if over night would help but no, its just not together in a sense, I mean there is fruit but a over abundance of acidity

Second time I have had this wine - this is really hitting its stride now with a very impressive depth to the fruit. It has excellent structure that should allow 15+ years of aging. Notes of charcoal, liquorice, black fruit and a cool minerality. Excellent.

London Wine Fair - day three (London): Meaty, oak, young fruit - quite modern with a lot of work done outside of the vineyard. Good, if a little modern

This was a well balanced 8 year old wine. Still has good fruit, acidity and tannins.
