Fair to good. Maybe a bit more energetic in its youth—but that’s all conjecture. Cedar nose. Palate a bit thin, red fruits, but of herbaceousness underneath. Fine acidity and mild tannins. Mid weight. Just average depth. Fine but not exceptional.

Schöner Margaux mit einem sehr guten Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Aromen von dunklen Beeren und etwas Pfeffer, leichte Bitternote. Getrunken aus einer 3/8 Flasche.

Deep carmine - cassis and some graphite on the nose. Medium bodied, very fresh and quite tannic (but fine grained tannins), fairly seamless on the palate: just far, far too young. I have high hopes for this wine, but it is a long way off its drinking window (3-5 years).

Deep color, soft tannins, floral, earthy, blackberry aromas, round textures, ripe fruit and it's early drinking too. Plus, it's fairly priced for a wine from the Margaux appellation. The wine was produced from a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot.

Planted at 70/30 Cabernet/Merlot. Smooth nose of black cherry, graphite, not terribly expressive, no obvious oak signs. Palate is approachable style at first, soft and subtly lush layers of cassis, gravel, blackberry, light spice, tobacco. Medium plus tannins, medium acidity. Tannins start to add up after a few sips. There's a lot here, recommend decanting if opening now.

Deep maroon color. Medium body. Two hour decant. Lots of ripe black cherry fruits on both the nose and palate, as well as licorice, dill, and gravel notes. An enjoyable quality wine, but it must be noted that there were plenty of tannins; this will likely need a couple years to really hit its stride, lose the rough edges and fruity baby fat.

À bit too young maybye? Will wait for better Times if any... Not bad at all, definitely above average, lacks the density and complexity of higher wines, but enjoyable.

2009 Bordeaux arrivage tasting (Baur au Lac Hotel, Zurich): Elegant and harmonious with the classic BDX notes, but lacks depth and power in the palate. I think this could be a long running wine and surprise me 10 years down the road

Bordeaux 2009 and some 08's (at the lower end) (Pat O'Briens): Cassis and cherries on the nose. Also some cedar notes. On the palate, this is accesible but already showing some complexity. Very easy to drink but worth paying attention to. Some tannins, so it probably gets better, but I don't see holding this more than 5 to 7 years, but that's fine. Its delicious today. This used to be a yearly purchase but the price is getting troublesome. ($33 Ohio)

18th Annual Central Carolina Food & Wine Festival (Medallion Center, Columbia, SC.): I don't get enough chance to taste Bordeaux at this level, so to me this is a real treat. My first impression of this wine, and of most red Bordeaux, is "complete". The blend of varietals, the terroir, and the winemaking are in harmony, and we get to enjoy the reward. This one also seems almost ready to drink. The tannins are noticeable, but not interfering with with taste across the palate. I'm sure some more bottle age would only help. The color is rich magenta. The nose is cherry and raspberry with some minerals, smoke and vanilla. The fruit fruit is slightly shy, beginning to show layers of red fruit first with the dark fruit in the background. Already nice integration of the oak and alcohol. Gets considerably softer as we drink down the glass. Sure decanting would have helped. Solid earth, cherry finish with some graphite.

My score may be generous by a point or two. This was competent Bordeaux, but not much more. Just seemed to be missing any sense of identity.

PnP. I could hardly believe that this actually was a Margaux wine, and a Cru Bourgeois at that. No reflection of the terroir whatsoever.

Excellent recommendation by our server, Tido, and wonderful with beef bourguignon at La Poule au Pot in London.
