Very fruity, berries, plums, also a bit (too) jammy, heavily extracted, missing freshness and elegance for me. Still quite tannic on the finish. Certainly not bad, but not my preferred style. 15/20

Appearance: Bright and clear, the wine is of deep ruby colour, with fading rim and legs. Nose: Clean, with medium (+) intensity aromas of black fruit of bilberry, plum and blackcurrant, red fruit of raspberry, oak notes of toast, kernel notes of cocoa and coffee, maturity notes of tobacco. The wine is developing. Palate: Dry with medium acidity, the wine has medium (+) tannin of ripe and velvety texture, medium (+) alcohol and medium body, with medium (+) flavours of black fruit of blackberry and plum, oak notes of toast, kernel notes of chocolate, sweet spice of clove. The wine has a medium finish. Conclusion: Very good quality St-Emilion with good concentration on the nose, showing good complexity in aromas, the wine has a similar flavour profile, with robust and structured body, and an intense palate showing reasonable length on the finish. It is ready to drink now though can benefit from further ageing of another 3-5 years.

Purple/red at the rim, tending to black at the core - blueberries and cocoa on the nose. Medium bodied but with huge concentration, when first opened a little bitter, after a couple of hours' decant the wine does relax and the quality begins to show through: a good depth of fruit and a fresh balancing acidity with a slightly sweet and grainy tannic finish. Leave for another 2-3 years before trying again.

Despite the abundant tannins so evident at this early age, I was really impressed with the purity and depth of fruit here. The wine is robust and exuberant, displaying ample dark fruit flavors and a touch of licorice. I look forward to revisiting in a few years.

Medium bodied with spicy red and black fruit, this lighter, traditional style of St. Emilion is tannic and dry in the otherwise, bright, fresh, tart, red fruit finish.

Union Des Grands Crus de Bordeaux Tasting (New York, NY): Nose: Ripe Cherry, Blackberry Jam, Spice Box, and Bakers Chocolate. Palate: Lighter bodied than others, but Med weight. Red Cherry, Bright Raspberry and a slight mineral note. Finish: Slightly hot on the finish, but a great effort. Leaves red fruits and chocolate that linger for a while.

The next bottle was excellent, full bodied, hedonistic and no signs of decline at all. Loved it.

Bought a few more bottles but the present one was clearly over the top. If this applies to my next bottle also I will drink up the rest soon.

Académie des Cinquante Saint-Emilion Tasting (Restaurant Bolenius *, Amsterdam, NL): Tasted blind (wine 17): Slightly earthy, shows age, complete, sturdy, lacks some aromatic finesse and length, 90. Tasted semi-blind: Relatively fresh and floral nose, toasty, firm and tannic, quite extracted, good length but drying finish, 91.

Not the most powerful wine but wonderful balance of cassis, raspberry, tobacco with fine tannins. Very classic style.

A lot of tobacco, cassis and plum. Better after 2 days bottle open.
