Was initially worried with previous comments because of its age. Surprised that this wine is still quite lovely. Leather and dark berries on the nose. Blueberries dominate the palate. Made for a beautiful accompaniment to denver steaks with leeks and black oyster mushrooms. Happy I still have 2 bottles in the cellar.

I’ve always had a fondness for this wine starting with the 97 vintage, as an inexpensive and reliable bordeaux. The 07 vintage was a little tired, but this bottle was singing. Robust (for Bordeaux) fruit, fine grained, slightly chewy tannins, medium finish. A very nice food wine or house bordeaux.

Hi-Ho Up-Date City! My last bottle. Pop and pour. Its ready now folks, don't wait much longer. Tanins resolved and a very nice experience. The nose-out of the bottle?-it's got fruit, maybe some fig, and old newspaper (how is that for a new one?). So don't wait-- if you have stored it well, you will not regret it. Had w beef Bourgoeuon- probably not the best combo. Trying, but can't get it 100% right yet==-probably never.

Hey, How long did you let this aerate? I think it needs a lot of aeration. First night I jumped into it too soon. But after time it really opened up nicely. Then, sat in re-ridge two days. Very good now!- beautiful nose-we actually had it with roast lamb. This was a great pairing. I just wish I hadn't been so greedy the first night and left more for tonight. I think it is ready so, go ahead and dive in-but let it breathe!! (and keep on truckin).

A low rating for me. It's just kinda blah. Has no real flavor profile and lakes texture and body. My bottle had been cellared properly. I even carafed it and tried it on a second night...no help. I'd take a pass on this if you run across it. There are many better wines from the Graves appellation.

This deserves a 90+ score and I'm embarrassed that I had never heard of it before. To me, this no name Graves Chateau is worth every penny for this $25 everyday drinking wine. After 30 min in the decanter, it jumps from the glass with a big nose of lavinder / violets, spice, red currant, ripe plums and a round mouthfeel indicative of the fatter, fruit forward 2009 vintage. If blind, I would have said this was from Margaux vs Graves. Drinks great now. 2009 reminds me of the 1990 Bordeaux vintage, but with more nobility and class. I will be buying more for my weekly wine.

Dark red with strong aromas and flavors of black fruit with some oak. It was very smooth, dry, medium bodied with a clean dry after taste with some tobacco notes at the end.

Dark red. Black cherries, cedar, soil. Cherry cough syrup, black pepper, medium+ body. Some heat, solid but not obtrusive tannin. Pretty perfumed finish. Good today and with a future.

Agree with Motz on this one. Its always fun to compare with so many other reviewers. This felt disappointing to me relative to the 2009 vintage and to my expectations. Certainly a good wine when compared to all possible wines at this price point, so not a problem on the QPR level. But, not really that much of interest in the tasting. This also seemed, to me, to be very mild at this point on the tannins and acidity. I can't imagine that this will evolve much more. Relatively flat and mild taste that is pleasant, but not overly exciting. Maybe best as a food pairing wine. This didn't shift much with decanting time or over the following days.
The wine looks violet colored. The legs are slow. There is light sediment in the bottle. It smells like blackberry and red currant. It tastes like blackberry. The body is medium/full. The wine has satin-like texture. The wine finishes long.

A go to Bordeaux for frequent consumption. A step up from an everyday drinker, a step down from a special dinner. Duck on a weeknight is what we had this with, and the fit was good. Medium bodied, subtly black fruited, a bit of salinity, medium plus finish, delivers Graves character. Solid performance.

Add me to the consensus. Very nice wine, but certainly not exceptional. Great value and definitely the equal of many Bordeaux twice the price. Has that lean Graves taste that I find attractive. There's a mix of herbs and dried fruit that's fairly full in the mouth, more than ample in the middle and ends with a medium length finish. A bit of complexity, but you won't confuse it with Bahans Haut Brion, let alone the great Haut Brion itself. Would certainly buy more it it becomes available.

Excellent Qpr for $20. Nice lively wine with plenty of character. Could use a few more years in the bottle to tame the tannins and acidity. Medium to long finish. Blackberries, plum and some vanilla on the taste. Well done.

Very interesting to read the tasting notes here! My taste buds must be on the fritz because I thought this was absolutely delicious & bought a case!
I read the "Pro" reviews and honestly have no idea what linzer torte, damson plums or currant actually taste like... what I can say is this:
On the nose this wine is smoky with a touch of oak, black fruit and cocoa powder.
While I read a number of tasting notes that refer to this wine as "thin" or "weak" I found the flavors to be full bodied and layered with flavors of blackberry and black plum as well as subtle flavors of tobacco, oak and vanilla.
What I liked most is the finish and agree with Tarrant when he says "dusty" tannins. They literally reminded me of powdered cocoa and left that lingering flavor on my lips.

Very disappointing. 2005 vintage of this wine was much better. Nose is cedary and smokey and the fruit is rather tart showing blackcurrant but which I found a little thin on the palate and a rather short finish. There are way better bordeaux out there for this price point and vintage.

Saw 'Les Miz' today and felt it appropriate for a night of Bordeaux, this was third of of 3 bottles opened (one white) and the Faizeau from Saint Emilion had an edge over this one from Pessac-Leognan, not surprising as the softer fruit in the SE's would almost by nature be drinkng better, earlier (We decanted both for over 2 hours) and this one clearly needs a bit more time but the potential is there for sure - Dark, full bodied with a nose of blackfruit, plum, cigar box tobacco, cedar and vanilla, decent structure, dusty and dry tannins at this stage (even after aeration), dry fruit on the palate with very good length, needs more time (89 Points).

Hmmm...this is quite disappointing, particularly for a 2009 Bordeaux. It has no charm, or notable structure. It's surprisingly basic, it has little mid-palate, no back-palate, and a very short, dull, flabby finish. It's also all but devoid of minerality. It's drinkable, even quaffable, but otherwise plain boring. I expected a lot more.

Not sure why the CT rating is so low. P&P through Vinturi aerator. Dusty and slightly tannic at first, but opened and mellowed to more fruit after several minutes in the glass. Paired well w/ filet mignon. I thought this was a decent Bordeaux for the price ($20). Probably could sit a couple more years, but nothing for the long-term.

Tight, even after aerating and decanting an hour. Nose of vanilla, cedar, sour cherry, basil, a hint of milk chocolate. Oak is significant, but should mellow nicely with a bit more bottle aging. Nice finish on the palate. Agree with other tasting notes - should age nicely.

Decanted for 2 hours before dinner. Charcoal, red currants, black cherry , cedar on nose (improved substantially with airtime). Medium body, black cherry, cedar primarily on palate. Medium+ acids and medium+ to long finish. Needs time. This bottle had a hint of TCA so I won't rate. My wife thought this was an excellent mid week go to wine.
