Golden yellow in color. Lovey aromas of ripe peaches, orange-yellow citrus, herbal essences and honeysuckle. Sweet attack of honeyed yellow orchard fruits, herbs are buttressed with good acidity that leads of a long off-dry finish.

Nose is calm with citrus, tropical fruit and honeysuckle. Palate is lush, juicy and refined. Smooth mouthfeel with a sweet touch, but still refreshing and not to gooey as the acidity gives this wine a nice apple flavour. This is very balanced out at the moment and a perfect food companion for spicy dishes or just solo as a digestif.

Decanted 30 minutes before service. In the glass, a clear, gorgeous honeyed amber. On the nose, a reserved mix of citrus and tropical fruits. The reticence ends on the palate, with an assault of lychee, passionfruit, mango, and oranges, with a creamy body and enough acidity to keep this at least somewhat out of dessert wine territory (although it's debatable). Either way, a pleasurable Riesling.

Light golden yellow in color. Superb aromas of orchard pit fruits, hint of honey suckle, herbal oils, lemon curd. Palate is awash with perfectly ripe jellied peaches, good tension of acidity and sugar, and a long herbal and honeyed finish. This is drinking well now.

The flavours are grapefruit, apple and lime driven, with a bit of wet stones and white flowers. The acidity is only medium(+) , which I think is not high enough to balance its sweetness. It's mildly sweet, which is in good balance for this spatlese.
It's very good value for money for this price (US$33). But it lacks the intensity and complexity to make this wine interesting.

A very good wine, but maybe a half step behind the lofty standards set but Donnhoff's other Spatleses. The weightlessness that can achieve with this degree of sweetness is always extremely impressive.

This is entering a nice early drinking window, where all the elements are reasonably integrated and the fruit has started to take on a spicier, baked, quality, although I thought there would be more petrol on the nose and the color has not advanced at all. The nose is slightly muted, relative to the typical explosion of fruit and flowers I expect from Donnhoff, but it is still pretty complex. The palate has a honeyed mix of green apples, limes, mint and pink grapefruit, which is the most distinctive fruit aspect. There is a bit of minerality towards the end, but this is much more fruit driven. The acidity is in perfect balance, giving the wine a weightless feel, and the wine finishes with mouth watering salinity.
This is a probably middle of the pack, relative to the whole spectrum of Donnhoff wines, but objectively, this is a fantastic wine and represents a great value. The smart part of me understands and reluctantly accepts that there are people who don't like sweeter Rieslings but, for the life of me, I can't figure out why.

Still showing a lot of baby fat, plenty of youthful fruit and some floral notes, but the fruit and sweetness dominate the acidity here and it doesn't show the lightness and elegance I've so often found in the Kirschheck Spätlese.

Red apple and pear, orange, some stone and tropical fruit, and eventually a bit of mineral and floral elements. Sits in some netherworld: not exorbitantly fruit-forward or juicy, but not really mineral-driven, either. Pretty high sugar and plenty of acid, but the finish is sweet.

Pop and pour. Pale white-gold in the glass. On the nose, a mix of citrus and floral notes. On the palate, a riot of tropical fruits, coupled with substantial acidity to keep things from getting cloying, although this wine is flirting with dessert wine territory in terms of sweetness. Still, happy to have a few more bottles in the cellar. Very good with Thai food.

nose: aromatic and balanced nose with tones of pears, white peaches, acacia flowers, some citrus tones and ripe melons. There is a nice little mineral streak that emerges with some air. Very good depth as well with a deliciousness to it too.
taste: fuller bodied with a real suave feel. Medium+ acidity adds a nice spine along with really good tones of green apples, melons, citrus tones, white peaches and some pears.
overall: there is a nice density to this on the palate. The acidity is very nice, and while it's a bit noticeable it's not overbearing. This is extremely good right now and while it could age, it'd be very hard to not drink it if I had more bottles.

Had this straight from the bottle. Pale straw color. On the nose a distinct smell of honeysuckle dominated. On the palate it felt quite creamy/oily in the mouth (in a good way). Some citrus and sweet melon and honey flavours. Rather good overall balance, and a long finish primarily with detectable sweetness - perhaps honey?! Had this on its own. I expect this wine would do well with apetizers/canapees for a broad audience.

Fatter, fuller, riper, and more forward than the Brucke. Cold this baby just sparkled electric yellow/green and entered with very sweet licorice/anise. As it warmed it widened in the mouth, dull minerals showed, and on the backside very juicy succulent grapefruit slices finished this baby nicely. The Brucke was very rewarding today, but I would give this wine a couple of years or more to start shining.

All of the 2009 Donnhoff Reislings I have tasted so far have been outstanding. This one is right there too... Nose of melon, honeysuckle, ginger, and citrus - amazingly expressive. Off dry, with good acid to balance the sweetness. Melon, peaches and qa long finish with a slight honey taste.... Just super good drinking. Need to buy more.

Full of baby fat right now. Very ripe, forward and sweet, showing the fresh floral-tinged cherries and peachy fruit I always expect from Kirschheck, but the sweetness right now overwhelms the acidity. Would like to see what this turns into with some age as the fruit takes a step back.

Decanted for about thirty minutes before tasting. Pale straw color. Expressive honeysuckle nose. Full, creamy mouthfeel. Flavors of melon and citrus. Great balance and a long finish that contains a hint of honey. An outstanding effort from a great producer. It worked with this evening's cashew chicken but was better on its own.

Perhaps not as expressive as in last september, but I might have just given it too little time to open up. Anyway, this is amazing stuff for its price.

Dinner in Portland. I wanted to find a Cameron Pinot bit "settled" for this instead and paired it with gnocchi in a butter sauce, which worked out just fine. The wine has a strong crisp backbone that was evident this early in it's evolution. Tons of baby fat on it. A few of my dinner partners did note that it was a fruity, sweet wine with pear, apple, and a hint of soft spices present. The wine succeeded in the ultimate test in that it was polished off halfway through the main course.
