Resembling Gallo's "Hearty Burgundy" far more than anything composed of pinot noir, there is nonetheless a lot going on here. While nonvintage, the slight garnet in the rim shows that the average age is at least several years. Volatile, but not objectionably so, and girded by a whack of acid and fine, persistent tannins. Sort of like a rustic Chianti? They really don't make them like this any more (the winery uses basket presses exclusively) and that's a shame. Very Good.
