Hard as nails upon opening, this was splash-decanted for an hour. It showed immense limestone on the nose, the most minerally red wine I've ever smelled. Tart plum skin and raspberry too. On the palate that persistent minerality plus big acidity was not at all out of place. It brightened up plum and strawberry, plus a hint of beet. I loved this wine because it's so elegant and pretty, plus is a radical departure from the usual Pinots that I drink. Big tannins and acid mean that I wouldn't touch this again for a decade.

deep red color, violets and cherry on the nose, high acid makes this refreshing, light bodied, good mineral element, nothing fruity here, just well-made and elegant, simple

Very light color. On day one nose was rather closed and it was very tart / bright with just a little fruit coming through. Day two had opened up aromatically, and the palate had a lot less fruit and more earth/tobacco.

Amazing nose of pine needle, white peppercorn, red cherry candy, and black truffle. I loved how the wine evolved as it sat in my glass. The palate was very similar to the bouquet, with a surprisingly firm tannic grip. I'd suggest this as a very young wine, needing an additional five to seven years in bottle before it's consumed. The potential is enormous though.

Bright, high toned strawberry and cherry fruit accented by fresh herbal notes and stony elements on a frame that's a little lean and very precise with really bright acidity. This isn't about weight or richness, just bright, elegant fruit in a package that's all too easy to drink.

First time ever tasted a Pinot from the Loire; very Burgundian like. Good colour, not jammy at all and a good long finish. Bought from the domaine in Sancerre, wish we had bought more

Sneaky cork flaw. The actual structure seemed quite nice. Vivid, not to lean and plenty of acid (not too much or harsh).

Jon-David Headrick 2011 Portfolio Tasting (Boston, MA): Soft raspberry/cherry nose. A little cool. Dry. Earth. More mineral driven. Needs time. 89-91

Grass and berries on the nose. Lots of acid and stone. A little austere - but good to pair with the right meal.
