Friday night at F&B's place. A little warm at first. Retasted again next day also. Appearance is clear, medium intensity, yellow gold colour. Legs. Nose medium+ intensity, with aromas of slight petroleum that blows off, then apricot cream, rich citrus lemon, honey, smoky stones minerality, a bit of salt. Developed. On the palate, dry, high acidity that wanes when warmer, medium alcohol (13%), full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of apricot, rich ripe peaches, rich citrus lemon, honey cream, hot smoky stones minerality with saltiness. Long smoky salty finish. Very good quality. Developed and showing at peak probably. Expressing the terroir of the Pechstein Grosse Lage site in the village of Forst in Pfalz.

Beautiful riesling-nose with tropical fruits, sweet honey and a hint of wax. On the plate fresh acidity, peach, sweet apple, touch of honey. Long and elegant.

Very impressive showing of GG Riesling; enjoying all what Riesling can bring; impresses by elegant acidity considering the age of bottle. Highly recommended

a little bit disappointed, I expect more, a little lack of acidity and the finish is not so clean, exotic fruits as pineapple, citrus, no petrol signs, I think not getting really betteer

Tasted blind this was clearly a German Riesling from the floral nose and the tiny hint of sweetness on the palate. I like the tropical fruit profile here. The texture on the palate was silky and tongue staining too with the acidity not obstructive at all. Enjoyable though complexity-wise not that impressive.

Saturday was Riesling Day (Beautiful Wines, The Plaza): I actually liked this quite a bit. Almost golden yellow in colour compared to the Australian wines. A bit of reduction aside, it had a lovely nose, with layers of stone fruit, peach, apricots and nectarines shading into slightly tropical, almost rambutan-like, territory. The palate was very nice too. Lots of fruit and flowers on the attack - honeysuckle, osmanthus, chamomile, white musk - really perfumed, like liquified flowers, and then sweet lemons, some stone fruit juice, and a bit of peach. All very fruit driven, but past that onto the midpalate, there was tons of minerality, almost bittersweet wet stones, and a long, long finish, like a river of minerality flowing through the back-palate. Tons of mouth-staining intensity here just coating the backpalate. Very impressive. Lots of substance, yet well-balanced. I liked this.

beautiful green gold colour
Opulent and spicy, creamy almost fat, toasty finish, very long, gorgeous flavours but perhaps a bit lacking in acidity

Frisk og fyldig. Ingen aldringstegn. Bør holde lenge. 2009 virker å være en god årgang.

Very closed at the moment on the nose as well as on the palete. Fresh and balanced. Give it another 3-5 years to show more.
