Another awesome wine from Jeff & Co. Sorry no notes but this was the winner from our 2007 JC Syrahs tasting. Big, inky, deep, savory brambly black fruit greatness. Held up well but we'll finish the last bottles sooner than later.

Rich aromas of blueberry compote, muddled blackberry and boysenberry are well integrated with notes of toasted star anise, sandalwood, cinnamon toast, vanilla, charred oak, and crushed violets. Hints of charcoal and sage round out the nose. The palate is full, bold and balanced. Supple with flavors of blackberry, blueberry and boysenberry fruit that progresses with dusty tannins and moderate acidity. Supporting flavors of sage, anise, baking spice, dried violets, vanilla, toast and wood are met with lighter notes of espresso, black olive and pepper. long on the grippy finish.
Overall still drinking nicely and should continue to evolve in the cellar.

Showing its age beautifully. Rich opaque purple color. Deep spice and transitions on the palette. Fuller bodied than other JC wines I have had. So sad it was my last - will look for more Haley.

A wonderful Syrah. Vinturi'ed & then decanted for about 2 hrs. Dark colored with an intense nose of dark berries. Dark fruit tastes with a long finish.

Decanted for four hours before imbibing. The wine is opaque purple with an exceedingly complex nose of blackberry. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and concentrated with blackberry, oak, cedar, pepper and just a hint of sage. It has a never-ending finish. This wine is a mountain of pure blue fruit, but it's buried under an avalanche of fierce tannins that even a 24 hr decant won't melt. Put this down for at least 3 and probably 5 years. It 's a solid 92 points now, but could be a 94+ with sufficient years in the cellar. I will try another bottle in the near future as I am confused by other tasters' notes describing the wine as "smooth," or "polished." It's a great wine, but those are definitely not adjectives that I would use to describe it at this tannic stage. Also, the wine I tasted was so opaque as to be almost black. It was not, as one taster described it, "brick colored." Bottle variation?

Very nice wine! Aroma is blackberry, earthy, meaty. Taste is more cherry than berry. Wonderful balance of fruit, acidity and tannin. Went into withdrawal when the bottle was empty...

- Brick color with medium forming legs and has flavours of blackberry with a medium/full body. Polished texture with a medium finish - 2nd JC Cellars Syrah of the evening. Much smoother with a more defined nose than its younger 2008 sister from Ventana. Less pepper and the fruit stays on the tongue longer. Smooth A very nice Syrah; every bit of.... 94.0

Displays the dark-berry compote flavors of the earlier bottle, but has also picked up a noteworthy savory note. In an ideal drinking window.

Really good Syrah. I enjoyed the long finish and the soft tannins. Not overly earthy--very much in a California style.
