Smooth lovely to enjoy despite age it tasted nice. Wine has dark ruby color and tannins are very light. I have 2 more to drink Ridge suggested drinking 2013-2014 but I found these when sorting out cellar this weekend, enjoyed bottle alone. Definitely mature and ready to consume

This is drinking very well now. Tannins have receded, leaving a cottony finish. Fruit is mature with clear signs of age - acid is poking through. A nice balance of components showing more elegance than the younger wine.

Opened as part of a Buchignani vertical tasting. Dark, brooding fruits, tending toward earth & herbs. Nose of dried cherries, herbs, meat with a touch of baking spice. Flavors of Blackberry, tobacco, tar, leather.

Medium-dark red color with medium transparency. Aromas of blackberry, cherry, vanilla, and raspberry. Palate has blueberry, blackberry, sweet plum, cherry, dust, and vanilla that carry into a medium finish. Drinking nicely now.

A big, beefy Zin without being jammy or boozy. While there's notable dark fruit - blackberry and black cherry - in the nose, barrel aromas stand out, with notable vanilla, charred oak and bramble. Slight upfront sweetness from the currant-like fruit is quickly balanced by tart cranberry. Vanilla notes linger with nicely rounded tannins in the finish.

Served during dinner proper (Roast beef tenderloin, whipped parsnips, roast carrots) in our Ridge Wine Tasting. This was paired against Ridge 2007 Lytton Estate Syrah. Certainly a good representative of Ridge Zin, more serious than light. Felt a bit tired, perhaps a bit past its prime, throwing a good deal of sediment. A nice wine, but not up to the Syrah (noted separately).

Very dark red. Full bodied and powerful. Brambly and fruity. All around a great zin, could probably lay for a couple more years if you like more mellow tannins.

Dark red color. Aromas of cherry, currant, vanilla, and blackberry. Palate is medium with zin-berry, dirt, cherry, currant, and some smoky vanilla elements that carry into a medium finish. Expands with air and shows some tannins on the finish. Drink or hold.

Really good, full zinfandel. Dark purple, almost the color of the CT Beta top ribbon! In a very nice spot now and I would guess right in the middle of its drinking window. Maybe drink until 2016? I have 2 bottles left, and I doubt they make it that far!

Delicious raisiny Zin, chocolate and tobacco; all in a balanced package--such a boon for a Zin. This is great, and it's really approaching exactly what I want my Zin to be like.

NY/NJ WLTV Offline (Fonda Del Sol, NYC): I served this one blind. Heavy oak treatment dominates the nose: toast, vanilla and smoke. Julius guessed French oak since it lacked the coconut and dill expected of American oak. Definitely new world oak treatment, but underneath the fruit was actually a bit thin and the finish was a bit short. Dark ruby color in the glass but not opaque.
I had not tasted this wine before but picked it up specifically for blind tasting since I thought the American oak would show more clearly and once you get California and American oak, maybe someone is going to guess Ridge. Oddly, when tasted blind, the oak really didn't show rhe characteristics of American.

Enjoyed this bottle last night - reasonable alcohol level, almost old world acidity level, and nice complexity of red fruit and integrated tannins/oak. just a nicely balanced Zinfandel without being overly fruity. would get more.

A Visit to Ridge Lytton Springs Estate: A blend of 93% Zinfandel and 3% Carignane. Dark crimson color. Aromas of red berries, pomegranate, white pepper; lush red fruit. Medium- to full-bodied and well-balanced from start to finish, with good underlying acidity and flavors of raspberry, pomegranate, pepper and blue fruit. Medium plus finish. 48 barrels produced. 13.8% abv. $30/bottle at the winery. 90-91 pts.

Tasted at the winery. Juicy mix of red and black fruit with med-high acid to offset the richness. A couple years in the bottle has done a lot for this wine and I can't wait try my mine after a bit of cellar time.

Dark berry, vanilla, boysenberry, cherry cola; nice tannins midpalate; smooth, fruit-forward finish; a really nice Ridge -- exemplifies how they can do bigger, fruitier Zins but still manage to exercise restraint; very drinkable right now

First Impression: Right out of bottle was a little disjoint. Lots of acidity and tannins and a somewhat harsh finish (88/89). After a half hour or so in the glass, it did resolve and was very sensuously balanced (91/92). Avg. 90. Overall Impression: Darker fruit than a Geyserville. The acidity and tannins work after some time in the glass, but are still a bit strong. Might get better with some age. 90. Enthusiasm: This was my first ATP wine (after almost a year in the program). Very happy with it. Looking forward to trying other ATP wines, other Buchignani vintages, and my second bottle (in a few years). 91.

Benefits from decanting 20 minutes before drinking. Went well with carnitas, rice, beans, and tortillas.

Second wine (after Ridge Syrah/Grenache) with Porterhouse and roast potates.
Clear dark purplse/burgundy.
Rasberry, and lots and lots of fruit.
Soft now, and smooth. This wine is at its prime - and an excellent primt it is.
