Gabbro terroir, which I think is somewhat atypical for Muscadet. Lemon rind, beeswax, straw, with a deep-ocean salinity. Very high-toned, even for Muscadet, with a somewhat bitter acidity. As the wine warmed, it revealed a honeyed, almost sweet note on entry followed by a deeply contrasting, sour beer/lemonade finish.

Acquiring a light gloss of smoothness. Nicely-made light white, dry, tart, refreshing. No depth to speak of. Good as an aperitif, with light starter courses, or light seafood.

Such an amazing value. Citrus on the nose and the palate, layers of minerals and bright acidity. Some anis notes. There is quite a bit of complexity here.

Muscadet at The Wine Country (The Wine Country, Long Beach, CA): This looks very weighty in the glass and carries some color. Wooly or lanolin nose almost like it was aged. Concentrated fruit but reserved in expression. Notes of mineral and bitter acids. Good length. Almost juicy. In the context of Muscadet this was a bit hard to read. I wish the fruit were brighter but I am wondering if this is built more for aging. Would like to try it from a cooler year.

rounded out very nicely since the last bottle - very lovely, in fact, with an almost plushly textured mouthfeel and a load of pure rock, citrus hint, springwater. Every bit a Muscadet, and also shows the ripeness of the vintage.

Nice Muscadet with a nose of mineral, lemon, and grassy notes. The palate is slightly oily with citrus and and a nice crisp mineral finish. Great with the oysters and clams we had.

this is like nothing i've every tasted before. on the nose: ocean surf and sea shells very salty on the palate with citrus rind. nice acidity and a long finish. i'm not an oysters or sushi fan, but can imagine this would be the perfect combination.

Color: Pale yellow Smell: Mineral driven notes with lemon, lime, and quince Taste: Lemon, green apples, kiwi, and saline Overall: Light body, high acidity, medium fruit, and a short finish. A good wine that does what one expects from it. Nothing causes this to stand out in any fashion...but it's still a good crisp, dry white.

A bit of cheese funk on the nose w/ some straw, lemon and some grassy notes. Impressively viscous in the glass - looks like a huge wine. Of course this is a Melon but it does have a nice weight in the mouth - perhaps due to the ripe vintage. Some nice saline/brine in this wine. Acidity is a bit light but balanced - would have liked a bit more. All in all, a great wine - almost borders on a lesser Chablis given the richness.

Froze this bottle solid by mistake, but thawed and drank with dinner. Nice showing, fresh, minerally, crisp, lightish but still showing some throw-weight. A well-made Muscadet and fine wine for summer drinking, at the very least.

Pretty good Melon. A bit heavy and dark-toned for my taste, I prefer the Pepiere style. Respectable acids and mineral tingle, reasonably well-balanced. Good quaffer with light fare, including vegetarian meals. Not a knockout, but good enough at $13.

Like much young Melon, a bit thin and watery on opening, but fleshes out rapidly, becoming slightly plump, almost oily, with typical shelly- sea salty savor and balancing acidity. Reminds me of Pepiere's regular 05 bottling. An opportunity to drink fine white wine for less than $15 a bottle.

Un vin frais et vif à la robe jaune vif se présentant sur l'amande et les fruits blancs. L'acidité est tout-à-fait maîtrisée. Délicieux rapport qualité prix.

Well past its prime. Unfortunately, it is now boring and flat. No fruit at all.

Popped and poured. Citrus, seashells, with a touch of pear and a crunchy acidic finish.

Fairly rich, some salinity and wooliness but unfortunately dominated by sour and bitter notes. Hoping this is an off bottle. Not good.

Cooking for the Kesslers (and drinking some great wine with them, too!) (My place.): Full of ripe yellow fruits and citrus with a nice briny character and mineral. It shows the vintages fatness with a slightly plump texture, but there's more than adequate acid to keep things fresh. B+

Pretty much like oysters with a squeeze of lemon and some sea water inside. Not the most complex, but drinks very, very well.
