This was a fantastic wine tonight. When cold, it tasted really fresh, and more integrated (as expected) than a 2019 Aubert Sugar Shack. As It warmed and opened up in the bottle, several hours later, it was all caramel and butterscotch. A great showing and one of the top wines tonight - with some good company.

Full brassy gold color. Big buttery nose, honey, kiwi lime, floral notes. Palate showing candied citrus, nectarines, butterscotch and oak. Primary flavors linger through the mid palate. Full body and finish
Beautifully aged, has gone the distance developing depth and complexity. You have to like the style, this is very classic California chardonnay. Really great showing - should hold for a few more years but not sure it gets any better from here. Worth opening now if you have a few....

Gorgeous wine! Nose of buttered popcorn, honey, oak, tangerine. Finely tuned and mature. Dark amber in colour. On the palette, a balance of buttery elegance, orange peel, honey and a mild oaky delight. This is sophisticated and I love it. The most I’ve ever spent on a bottle of Napa Chardonnay but worth the wait and price. One and only bottle. The way it was meant to be.

A benchmark for California Chardonnay for sure. It starts by teasing the eyes with a really lovely golden straw colour. The nose is all peaches and cream but without the over the top butteriness. Very concentrated in the mouth, full but not flabby, and the finish hangs around for maybe a month or so. Really a treat to have opened this night.

With Joe and Wendy at Nomad in Princeton. From a magnum medium chill on the wine.
Medium gold color. Nose was apple, orchard fruit, citrus, butterscotch - rich and powerful. Palate repeats with apple, caramel, burnt sugar. Sooth texture. Rich and powerful wine, long finish.
There was a little heat in the finish, alcohol was a touch high, but otherwise very nice. In a good drinking window, would drink over next 3 years.

Medium light yellow; expressive nose, toasted butter, litchie fruit, exotic; very rich, very round, fatty, lots and lots of flavour; long aftertaste; very good

Very nice wine but was a tad disappointed with it for the price. Lacking the punch that I have had in the past with the Pahlmeyer Chardonnays of past vintages. The finish was nice but was a little lacking in structure and complexity.

ANV 13' from magnum. In a great drinking window right now. This has wonderful balance and tension but is definitely rich and powerful. Great wine drinking wonderfully.

Classic Cali Chard, our first Pahlmeyer (always wanted one since the Michael Douglas movie 'Disclosure' LOL!) this was excellent but a touch over the top alc. wise and if it was a touch more integrated it would have moved to 95 points - Gold, full bodied with a nose of apple, spice, peach, extreme butterscotch, caramel and vanilla, very well made, a touch of heat on the nose and palate, silky sweet on the finish with terrific length, awesome! (93 Points).

Jan & I had this at River Oaks Grille in Memphis for her Birthday. This wine was really balanced. It was light gold in color and the nose was that classic light oak, with vanilla and light tree fruit like lemon & apple. The legs were medium. Mid palate was more light tree fruit and it had a great balance. It had a nice pretty smooth texture and the finish was medium. This seemed to be a little better than last time so I rated it a little higher.

Jan and I had this with a Schafer One Point Five at Restaurant Iris (one of the best restaurants in Memphis) for our anniversary. The nose was oak, with vanilla and light tree fruit. Mid palate was more of the same with a nice balance of elements. The finish was mid to long . This is an excellent Chardonnay and we have never been disappointed with it.

Light mid yellow; nose somewhat closed, some power, butter; nice powerful attack, hint of oak, sweet tones; a bit one-dimensional at the moment, but seems to have lots of potential with some more age
