Bought both bottles from Wine Exchange and they must not have had good storage on these wines. Bottle number 2 and just not what i had hoped for. Among the least favorite of all the Greenocks I've had yet see other reviews showing quite differently for this one. Had a decent nose maybe a hair better than the previous bottle but really not much depth or character. Very jammy in the mouth with no structure to support it. Definitely drinkable just not remarkable

Dark ruby, bricking on the side. Nose is very developed, with garrigue, raisins, tobacco, leather. Great balance, with nice acidity, lots of plums, blackberries, but also lots of leather and tobacco leaves - I really liked how complex the palate was. Tannins are completely integrated, and the ending is long with oak and vanilla notes and residual raisin notes that last for a good while. A great, aged Australian Shiraz - mature and ready. No need to wait any longer - but this should last 3-4 more years easily. Excellent!

Opened last night. Seemed overly ripe then, with a burnt sugar quality to the fruit. Better today. Quite brown at the rim, dark garnet inside the rim. Decent legs. Nose still has a lot of that sugary ripeness, hints of vanilla, caramel, autumn leaves, red fruit, a bit or orange, and herbs. More together in the mouth, with a strong, firm core of fruit, chocolate and cocoa, creamy, saddle leather. The finish lingers a long time. This has gone the distance and then some, and it is time to drink up. It can probably hang on a while longer, but why wait? 4-13-18-9: 93/100.

Superb example of Barossa Shiraz ....the best we’ve had since a recent 2005 Hill of Grace. Impenetrable colour, dark fruit nose that promised rich flavour. Glorious rich dark fruit, a hint of tar and roses, beautiful mouth coating texture with complete harmony of structure and a long & enjoyable finish with hints of pepper and spice. Yum!!!!!

Rich deep fruit in the nose and flavor with lots of dark fruits. Well balanced wine with nice complexity and a long finish. I stopped buying a lot of Australian Shiraz because I didn't think they were pairing with food very well. However, as I drink more 15+ year old Shiraz, I am beginning to change my mind...

Beautiful scent of tobacco and oak when opening the bottle. You can almost smell the chewiness of this wine. It's difficult to describe its taste as there is so much going on here. Oak, deep dark chocolate, almost overripe cherries,... it goes on and on. This is a spectacular bottle. I opened it up for a Xmas dinner but before serving it with the meal we sat down and we all drank a glass focussing on the wine alone. This wine deserves the attention and, though spectacular with red meats, it can stand solely on it self as well.

Dinner at Galletto's (Galletto Ristorante, Modesto Ca.): Very smooth and Port-like but not too sweet. Rich and ripe blue and black fruits….liqueured berry/currants, anise, white pepper spice, mint…..plenty of acidity to hold up the sweet fruit….dusty floral spices, little aged leather and nuttiness……..went really well with cheeses and salumi.

Regular dinner group (@ PvD Viognier worldwide and reds from the Southern Hemisphere): Very sweet bouquet with rose hips, blackberries etc. Concentrated. Currants. I am less impressed than on previous occasions.

A big polarizing Parker Shiraz. When I'm in the mood I love them. I was in the mood. Big black fruit on the nose, alcohol over-present. In the mouth a prune, date. black raisin and leather taste. Extremely dark and concentrated. Dark, red fruit in the nose. It evolved from near-Banyuls to near-Amarone. A little sweet. Heavy in its alcohol. This is what I call a Parker-wine. It lacks elegance and refinement. The rating is almost alone for its concentration and power.

After having the opportunity to try a variety of Michael & Annabelle Waugh's Greenock Creek wines (Seven Acres, Alice's, Apricot Block), I am convinced that they are one of the premier - if not THE premier - producers of Shiraz in the world. Big statement, yes, but it's true; I have yet to have a less-than-stellar Shiraz from this winery. And the 2001 Alice's is no different... like the '03, and other vintages I've had of this particular wine, it's quite closed at first. However, with decanting (suggested length 3+ hours), this wine yields gorgeous fragrances of dark fruit, smoke, espresso, and mineral. It's a powerhouse on the palate, yet with incredible elegance, with blackberry, plum, licorice and peppe flavors notedr. Has an absolutely killer finish of 60+ seconds. Will further cellaring yield even greater results? Yes, I believe so (as other posters have mentioned), but with the right amount of air it's a "WOW" wine right now.

This is a monster. Color is dark purple to the rim. Nose shows spicy blackberry, plum, mulled spices, and tar. On the palate, there is juicy blackberry, stewed plum, licorice, and pepper. This is thick stuff with still prominent tannins. It needs a few years to settle and come into balance, but should improve further.

Dark red to black in the glass (5/5). A palate that screams of barrosa with dark fruits, licorice, chocolate, eucalyptus, but also adds in another more complex element of port (14/15). In the mouth the wine is hugh, almost to hugh with extreme tannins. Licorice, peppar, chocolate and port elements. Too much power for me (15/20) Very closed down, needs at least 10 years (10/10). Strongly advice to keep in the cellar! 94 pts.
