The Hanisch Shiraz is our flagship wine and a wine with a very special place in Rolf’s heart.

The wine is made from 100% Shiraz grown in the winery block ‘Chri-Ro vineyard’ and is named after the original owner of the vineyard, ‘Punch’ Hanisch. This special vineyard was purchased by the Binder family in 1968, then planted to vines in 1972 by Rolf Binder Senior and young Rolf (age 11).

By the mid 1980s, an 8-row section was recognised for intensely expressive Shiraz of intense aromas, deep colour and flavour. The first Shiraz from this vineyard was bottled in 1988 as the ‘Long Rows’ Shiraz.

A wine where absolutely no compromise is made – in fruit quality, oak quality, or in viticultural practices. The winemaking style remains a testament to this great wine and it is only produced in the very best vintages.

The Barossa is, of course, famous for Shiraz and the Hanisch sits amongst the classic, great wines from the region and has a for many years been rated on Langton’s Classification of Australia’s finest wines.

Complex flavours abound in this full-bodied wine with firm tannins, and a long lingering finish. A wine to be enjoyed for many years to come.

Cork closure. Typically 200 – 250 dozen only are made with each release.

Presented in this lovely 6 pack wooden display box, it makes a wonderful addition to any collector’s cellar and will age well for 10-20 years.
