2010 White Wine, Lodi, California
47% Verdelho, 35% Albarino, 18% Torrontes
We love the Lodi AVA. Its history as a early center of grape-growing and cattle ranching in California meant that it was a popular destination for early immigrants to California looking for better opportunities. These immigrants not only brought vineyard know-how from their homelands, but also the grape vines themselves. As a result, Lodi has a diversity of plantings of unheralded grapes, including the broadest selection of Iberian varietals in the state. All of our vines are certified sustainably-farmed by the Lodi AVA Sustainability Program and we picked the grapes early so as to ensure alcohol and acidity levels similar to those found in wines from Galicia and Vinho Verde, the Old World home of these grapes.
Alcohol Content: 12.6% ABV
Vinification: Varietals fermented separately, 80% in stainless steel and 20% in neutral French oak. After blending 10% is aged in neutral French oak and the remainder in stainless steel.
Vineyard Sources: Lodi AVA. Verdelho and Torrontes from Silvaspoons Vineyards (sustainable) and Albarino from Bokisch Vineyards (organic/sustainable).
