2020 Oakville Farmhouse Heritage Wine, Oakville, Napa Valley
2020 was one of the lowest cropping years we have ever had at Oakville Farmhouse vineyard, with yields from these 1930s planted vines being below 1 ton/acre. The result is a wine that is dark and dense but fresh. A field-blend of Negrette, Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Mondeuse and many more, the 2020 showcases an almost Cab Franc like pop of pink peppercorn and black mustard seed (though there are only two Cab Franc vines in the vineyard). As always, the oldest vineyard in Oakville gives an alluring look back into what wines from this area tasted like before the monochromatism of Cabernet took over. $75
