Release Letter:
Two Acres is back! It broke our hearts not to bottle this from 2015 but for whatever reason, the vines simply weren’t able to fully ripen the fruit that year. Fortunately, there were no such problems in 2016. In fact, it was even one of those rare vintages in which all varieties were ripe at the same time. As a result, given our love of cofermentation, all varieties were picked on the same day and cofermented together. After 22 days on the skin, the wine was pressed to all French oak, 22% new. Neither fined nor filtered.

Tasting Note: Medium-dark to dark ruby-garnet. Sensuous, perfumed aromas of spiced cherry, tree bark, and cardamom. Wonderfully luxurious on the palate with a mouthcoating texture unlike any other wine I’ve had from California. Intense flavors of blood, game, cherry, and spice carry through the long and gently tannic finish. I love this now but it will go the distance. Drink from 2020 through 2030.
