Prieto Picudo (translates as Tight and Pointy) is a red grape variety which produces very aromatic, distinctive wines. It grows in the provinces of Leon, Zamora, Palencia and Valladolid, being the main grape of the DO Tierras de Leon.
Prieto Picudo gives wines of an outstanding quality, with an excellent fruit and phenolic content. Technically speaking, the characteristics of the grape are ideal for wine making. It has the color, acidity, and tannins to produce wines worth of aging.
