1985 Montevertine Chianti Classico

Very light on the glass. Gamay light. Not bad. Probably not that great to begin with. But fruit showing through. More of a novelty than anything. Large dinner with pasta any many wines. This was an indication that sangiovese from Chianti made in the 1980s (not Montalcino et al) is probably not a long liver.

2016 Chateau Montelena Cabernet Sauvignon The Montelena Estate

This is just an outstanding bottle of wine. Definitely in it's zone right now and will hold for years to come. Just a heady nose of deep dark fruit with creme de casis nuances. On the palate very expansive and broad. Hitting on all cylinders. Delivers concentrated denseness without over extraction. Lovely fruit with just the right acidity. Excellent really to meditate without food. Great conversational piece.

2021 Daou Vineyards Chardonnay

I'm surprised other taster think this a light chardonnay. I find it to be medium to full, very golden in the glass. Nice and supple. Very tasty. Right amount of oak, melon, some lemon curd. Good acidity etc. Very round. For $16 a bottle at Total Wine I don't know of a better QPR. Easily an everyday chardonnay you can pour for anyone. I bet if you blind tasted with chardonnay lovers they would easily place it at a much higher price point. And I'm not a huge Daou wine fan.
