I had the occasion to try a number of 100 point wines a few days before having this wine. This one blew all of them away, even though it was not the Reserve. Most of the tasting notes suggest it is beyond its prime, but the bottle I had was struttin' its stuff! Earthy, with lots of chocolate and coffee on the finish.

The wine that made me start loving Portuguese wine. Made from the same grapes that are used to make Port, they really have no American or French analog, but the only word for them is DELICIOUS. A big wine that can stand up to hearty and spicy meat dishes and full bodied cheeses.
