After the reading the reviews on this wine I felt compelled to add my "two cents". I stuck a needle in it via Coravin (is there any other way?) and drank half then popped the cork two days later. We made asparagus risotto and paired with that. I laced the risotto with a grated merlot cheese purchased at Costco. This wine does drink like it's 15.2% Alc. not 14.7. There's a slight burn on the nose along with austere dark fruits and some slight green pepper. We also got sour cherry, slight graphite, and hints of other berries. The tannins are prominent with medium acid. This has some years left and I feel it will improve. This is an enjoyable wine. Not deserving of an 83..

I don't normally add public tasting notes, but this is an exception. I've been hanging on to this bottle for several years. I watched Maynard and Eric sign the bottle! I opened it on May 5th, 2018, my 50th birthday. Soft tannins, low acid, and plenty of candied berries. VERY enjoyable now! No prunes, no raisins!
