I found this bottle in my cellar - it wasn't even logged in CellarTracker. I'm sure I bought it on release. This wine was drinking just beautifully - with gorgeous, spicy, peppery aromatics and a silky mouthfeel. I love Bien Nacido Pinot Noir. Ten years on? Who would have guessed?

I always consider the Clos Pepe and Cargasacchi vineyards to be longer lived wines. I hope I didn't miscalculate.
I think this wine has seen better days.
The color was a pretty, ruby red. The nose was a touch boozy - it kind of reminded me of when you walk in the winery and stuff is fermenting everywhere. I really couldn't get anything else out of the nose other than the barrel notes and the alcohol.
The wine makes a comeback on the palate - it has a beautiful mouthfeel, tannins resolved, some nice cherry and cranberry fruit, but no sign of the Santa Rita Hills spice box we've come to know and love. I still get more wood and alcohol than funky pinot fruit, and I think this bottle has headed over the hill.

no reason this should have still been alive, but it was, it was. And it was delicious.
