  • 2009 Domaine de Cause Cahors La Lande Cavagnac

Subtle nose, a hint of spice and oak. The palate posesses mild but tasty fruit then a big surge of bright, high acidity obscuring, I feel, the essence of the fruit and the balance. Medium low complexity with a medium short finish - dominated by the acid and medium drying simple tannins. This is just a good wine, simple, but will be enjoyed by those who enjoy brightness of this wine.

  • 2013 Zorzal Malbec

The nose is nice, deft tones of minerals, oak , spice, and fresh green herbs. This is an interesting Malbec. I don't claim to be a Malbec expert but this is quite different from my experience with them. The palate is a short quick burst of mild, but flavorful fruit, followed by medium drying tannins, and a finish that is dominated by a bright tangy citrus. I really like the bright acidity in this wine. I find this wine to be of high quality and very enjoyable but would guess that those who are accustomed to a Malbec that tends to be fruit driven and a bit more flabby to be disappointed. This wine intrigues me, I'd be really interested to hear what others have to comment about it.

  • 2009 Quinta de Pancas Reserva

Subtle minerality and earth on the nose. Smokiness and lots of nice dense flavor on the pallet. Mild fruit, bright acidity and rustic flavorful tannins providing an enjoyable complexity. Finish is short with a mild dryness and tangy acidity.
