Hmm. Not sure what happened here. Some shy but nice buttery baking spice aromas on the nose; decent pineapple, mango, and lemon oil flavors on the taste; but an oddly high phenolic mouthfeel leading right into an alcohol spike on the finish makes for an unpleasant imbalance in a wine that drinks much leaner than it’s listed 14%. Tasted over two days with consistent notes. My least favorite SIXTO to date and at this price point it’s a definite pass.

Nothing much here to speak of. Very little aroma, flavor, and character. Not repugnant or flawed, but just weak sauce. If you’re in the rose isle pass on this and stick to the regulars.

Hmm. Dubiously light ruby hue for combining 4 super-heavyweight grapes: grenache, syrah, carignan and cinsault. It should be dark and tongue-staining but instead felt too bright—like they limited skin contact to make a smoother wine to drink now and then over-acidified with a pinch too much tartaric. It wasn’t *bad* and has some classic southern Rhone character—a few more years in bottle may also help—but at this stage seemed about 80% natural and 20% modeled as if they were trying to sculpt a Beaujolais. I love the Bruniers for their Vieux Telegraphe and have enjoyed Le Pigoulet in other vintages, but I’ll pass on this one.
