12/23/2014 11:28:00 AM - Hi there. My advice would be to identify a couple of major areas - mine would be Rhone and Bordeaux - and get to know them well. Best of all, take a vacation there.
Also it's fun to get to know a less mainstream area where you can feel a little more differentiated - for me that would be perhaps Grueners and German Rieslings, plus ports and Sauternes (which are the best bargains out there). I mostly have bought in online auctions.
Good luck and have fun!

First bottle from a case. Took an hour to open up, but was then excellent. dark fruits, slight charcoal and anis. Very well balanced and smooth.
