Transported from my CA cellar to Kauai and cellared about 2 weeks before consuming. Very approachable for a syrah. Blueberries, darker red almost black fruit on the bouquet. Based on the nose, we were anticipating a big, structured Syrah but in the mouth, very supple, nice minerality, some earth and leather notes on the mid-palate to finish. Good, medium body. Finely grained tannins. We were a little surprised at how accessible it was. Short term cellaring will benefit. Don't think it will make old bones but I must confess this was purchased on my first trip to the Walla Walla area and Woodenville in Seattle so I don't have a good handle on the ageability of WA wines.

Transported from my CA cellar to Kauai. Allowed to rest for a couple of weeks. Poured at dinner with The Bull & Charlene at RumFire in Poipu on 7/6/19. Initially, pretty nose of darker red fruit with rose petal notes. Beautiful RRV bouquet. In the mouth, approachable now, very good entry, medium bodied. Paired well with a miso butterfish dish and braised short-ribs. Tannins nicely integrated. Drinkable now, window for me is now to 5 years though it would be fun to let a bottle or two go to seven. Bravo Patz & Hall!

In a really nice place right now. More towards the darker fruit part of the Pinot Noir spectrum. Perfumy nose featuring cola, darker plums and sandlewood notes. Silky entry, medium bodied with a good finish. Tannins are fully resolved. One of the nicer 2011's I've had.
