  • 2021 Myriad Cellars Syrah 100% Whole Cluster Sangiacomo Vineyard

Ruby red, the Sangiacomo Vineyard Whole Cluster Syrah is loaded with a rich, succulent
dark & red fruits and a bold texture. The 50% whole cluster fermentation adds sumptuous aromas of white pepper and roasted savory notes on the uplifted mid palate. Dark raspberries are enhanced on the palate to show black cherry, plum, saddle leather and loads of nutmeg spice. 96 POINTS Jeb Dunnuck

  • 2021 Booker Vineyard Vertigo Extended

Non of this is for the 2021 extended, but just for an idea...

FOR THE NON-EXTENDED (I have the extended)
    BLEND: 62% Syrah, 22% Mourvedre, 7% Grenache, 5% Petit Sirah, 4% Tannat

The Booker estate vineyard is pitched along steep hillside slopes—a signature aspect of its distinctive terroir. “Whenever I was on the quad (four-wheeler) looking down the long, steep drop I used to joke that it was so steep I was getting vertigo,” Eric says. And thus the name was born for this signature Rhône-style blend, made with a twist of Petite Sirah and Tannat. The 2021 Vertigo presents floral lilac aromas laced with black cherry and graphite. The mouthfeel is rich and savory, with rich fruits and notes of cacao nibs that linger deep into a long, smooth finish.

For the 2020 from the vineyard
    BLEND: 47% Syrah, 32% Mourvèdre, 9% Grenache, 7% Petite Sirah, 5% Tannat

Our classic Rhône-style blend with a twist of estate Petite Sirah and Tannat, fermented with 20 percent whole-cluster inclusion. Floral violet aromas show essences of blueberry, cocoa and baking spice. Flavors of black cherry and plum reveal hints of black pepper, finishing long with soft tannins and lifted acidity. Dense yet buoyant with head-spinning textures. Aged for 22 months in 60 percent new French oak

2018 was JD99 - The same blend (55% Syrah, 25% Mourvèdre, and 20% Grenache), only aged longer in barrel, the 2018 Vertigo 22 offers similar notes of crème de cassis, graphite, white flowers, white chocolate, and spiced meats as well as a full-bodied, powerful style on the palate. It’s another stunningly balanced, rich, yet seamless red from Jenson that does everything right. Pushing at perfection, drink it over the coming decade. Inner quote mark (9/2020)

  • 2021 Booker Vineyard Syrah Fracture Extended Age 22 Months

Vineyard comments on the 2020 (I have the 2021)
    100% Syrah
Named after the estate’s fractured limestone soils, this Booker flagship is renowned as one of the world’s great Syrahs. Dark, concentrated and opaque in the glass. Aromas of plum, black olive and smoked meat yield to flavors of black cherry, blackberry, clove and roasted coffee beans. Plush tannins and generous acidity flow long through the finish. A banger Syrah. Aged for 22 months in 60% new French oak barrels.

THIS IS THE RATING FOR THE NON-EXTENDED (I have the extended
98 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The flagship 2021 Fracture is, as always, all Syrah from that spent 18 months in French oak (60% new and 40% neutral). This inky hued, concentrated, full-bodied beauty has ample darker, chocolaty fruit as well as notes of peppery herbs, smoked meats, and graphite. Dense, powerful, and opulent, it stays beautifully balanced on the palate, has ripe, polished tannins, and a great finish. It's a powerhouse of a Syrah that still shows the cooler, vibrant style of the 2021 vintage. It will keep for a decade at a minimum, but it's gorgeous even today." (08/2023)

95 points James Suckling: "Plenty of dark cherries, blackberries, game, grilled meat and raw black pepper. It's juicy with medium body. Fine tannins and a velvety texture provides elegance and a suave character to this syrah. Peppery and lively finish. Drink or hold." (09/2023)

93 points Wine Spectator: "Showing precision and torque, this Syrah offers deep blackberry, stony mineral, espresso and pepper flavors that build tension toward broad-shouldered tannins. Best from 2024 through 2032. (TF)" (10/2023)
