My wife and I love this wine. It’s loaded with dark cherry fruit but is perfectly in balance. There’s also something to it’s texture- a velvety quality that I’m assuming is related to it’s aging in amphora. Regardless it’s a great wine and great value.

Not as immediately obvious as the 2016 version. This wine is packed with tension, and while enjoyable and carrying the Vajra BdV signature I love, this is really all about potential. Dark red, crunchy fruits. Hold.

I brought this to our 2019 Barolo tasting as a bit of curveball. Incredibly dark and brooding. There was a tremendous amount of black cherry fruit and a tannic structure to suggest decades of aging potential. I loved this, I think these are a very compelling addition to the cellar as a Nebbiolo change of pace.

7/29/2023 7:30:00 PM - Welcome aboard the crazy train, JWS84! I suspect we share the wines of Italy as our common point. I have broad tastes but if I were forced to nominate one country as the source of my wine (perish the thought) it would be Italy. The wines combine the boldness of Australia with the gravitas of Bordeaux and Burgundy and they wrap it up in tannins and other characters that are distinct - wines that appeal equally to the heart and the head. I also like the fact that they are far more reliable year on year than those of France.
Although in whites my heart lies in Germany, there is enough variety in Italy that I could survive with my supply of white from there and Germany still really does not make the variety or consistent quality of red for me to survive.
Wishing you a splendid weekend.
PS: One of my favourite live albums, by Blue Oyster Cult, opens with 'Atlanta Georgia, are you ready to rock n roll?' (thunderous affirmative response).
