Upon opening, wine was rather closed off and felt somewhat acidic with some alcohol heat. Letting it breathe for a couple hours helped, and felt a little plusher the next day. Color is a bit tawny/prune colored. Medium to lighter body, off-dry, not a lot of distinctive fruit flavor, perhaps a dry raspberry. High tannins, with an edge of burnt caramel. Enjoyable drinking, just lacking any up front character.

Pseudo tasting note since I drank it a couple weeks ago: Nice plush red, probably had maybe another year in it although it has likely peaked for the 2006 vintage.

Bright zingy sweet and tart, but not cloying or syrupy. Nose between apricot and raspberry. Has a lot of citrus to it (grapefruit? tangerine?), some lychee, and the tang of an apricot. Does well to warm up a tad above fridge temp. Not many foods would pair well with it, probably better to sip alone.
