Everything that is great about California Zinfandel. Great acidity, brambly fruit (think of wild blackberries freshly picked). This is a field blend which has multiple other varietals which provides some unique characteristics. Unfortunately, Acorn is closing their doors this year. I have some of the 2019 and can’t wait to try. Acorn was the first winery that got me excited about Russian River wines. Wishing Betsy and Bill all the best.

Old Westminster Winery is one of the more exciting wineries in the Central PA and Baltimore area. The 2013 Rose' is a blend of all Maryland grapes including Syrah, Cab Franc, Cab Sauvignon, and Merlot. It is a dry Rose' but I suspect there is an ever so slight amount of residual sugar that is balanced with very good acidity. Nose and taste are sour cherries with a lingering finish. This wine is still drinking well 2 years after release. Very good for sipping on its own but will hold up to some lighter to medium fair and even spicier options. Alcohol 13.8%.

Dried cherries, well-balanced, medium bodied. A blend of Sangiovese, Barbera and Aglianico. A great wine for the price. A real hidden gem
