At peak. Beautiful wine. Needed 3.5 hours to show its glory. Breadth, complexity, depth, freshness and harmony: fully integrated tannins, sweet fruit complimented with savory notes. Full palate coverage with a mid palate center of gravity, and considerable length. Quite impressive. Showed best in a Riedel Syrah glass (compared to the new Jancis/Richard glass (exaggerated the alcohol), the Spieglau red glass (didn't show the wine's depth and fullness), and Zalto (made the wine angular).

In fine dotage! honeyed, properly oxidized, still with beautiful delicacy and refinement - poise - of PM. Over the hill for many, not for those who wait for the beauties of time. Decent length. Respect! A sense of place.

So impressive. 18 years old and still vibrant: honeyed, ripe yellow fruits, of course oxidative (not pre-mox!) notes. Full, open, rich, harmonious, long. All that it should be.

12/23/2014 8:25:00 AM - Hi ... I see we're both in NYC area. I am very impressed with your collection. I am just starting out and can only imagine having a 500+ bottle collection. Any suggestions for the newcomer?
