Enough development on the nose and palate to make it interesting to open, but almost comically firm tannins. I'd have to imagine at 28 years or so in bottle it would be at somewhat ready, but not even close. In this bottle there was plenty of acid and structure to make me believe that at SOME point, this will come together, but not quite yet. Put this somewhere deep in your cellar and forget about it.

Not great-definitely would have been interested to try 2-4 years ago. Dry finish, pretty out of balance and fruit is fading into the abyss. Maybe a mag would still have something to give.

Was slightly hesitant to open an '05, as a few years ago they were not even close, but I'm glad I did! Color was showing a bit of age, and the nose started a bit shy, and really opened up into something you just want to return to smelling over and over again. Palate was showing well too, with red fruits, some bramble, a bit of forest floor and lovely length, and an elegant balanced acidity holding it all together.
I must confess that I lean towards Burgundy of this style, and it might not be for those looking for bold, hit you over the head fruit or flavor profile, but this is top notch and starting to show well. Plenty of time left, no rush. Lots of upside here, but lovely now.
