Garnet with bloody brown centre and pale rim. The faint nose begins with cabbage, followed by the much more pleasant autumn woods bouquet with a spot of red fruit at the top of the inhalation. Red currants follow through to the palate, with a little bit of beef tea, and a tiny splash of chocolate cream before finishing with a lovely bloom of strawberry acidity. Nice winter day aftertaste - mulchy but in a good way. All very delicate and subtle with a firm, velvet feel in the mouth. Quite poised apart from the slightly rustic tannin that pokes through at the end.

Level at bottom of neck. Cork saturated but still very firm. Transparent orange rim and red/brown robe. Deep, rewarding bouquet of blood, bramble, soil and flint, with hints of toast, bonfire toffee, licorice root and blackcurrant. Fruit increased noticeably after 4+ hours of air. More brambly fruit on the palate (again increasing and becoming more sweet with time) plus lots of mineral (iron, flint). Good vibrant acidity, lighter-side of medium body and with little or no noticeable tannin. Last glass much sweeter than the first. Beautiful long mineral finish that gives plently of time to reflect on a wonderfully balanced mouthful. One of my favourite bottles so far this year.
